(purchased ingredients) homemade salsa and carnitas street tacos.

Next time try eating them under an umbrella. Seems the street pigeons like your tacos too ;)

I always wanted a Cz82 in 9x18 or an 83 in .32ACP but I missed the boat on the cheap ones. Thankfully this one was diiiiiiiiirt cheap so I figured I wouldn't make the mistake a third time. I had no idea how lefty friendly this thing was until I had it in my hand (ambi safety, mag release, and thumb rests on the grips). The ergos are fantastic, the SA trigger is very nice, and the DA trigger is S&W K frame smooth. I can't wait to shoot it, and if it had a decocker I'd love to carry it

That's the plan for it to barely be sticking out. I have more keymod rails than I do m-lok so I'm not sure what I'll actually end up with. I'll check out the SLRs..

Sadly, our CostCo was out of them the other day we were there. I don't eat much stuff like this anymore but on the rare occasion I want something like this... usually this is what I want. lol

BTW, if yours has the mint ones they're amazing if you like mint. The original flavor is really good w/the oatmeal cookies but some of the other flavors are yummy in their own way too.

Doesn’t anybody show off guns anymore? You guys are making me hungry.

I picked up these five trade ins yesterday at a local shop for pretty good deal. I have always wanted a SKS that takes AK mags and the other SKS is in like new numbers matching condition, both are Norinco’s. The other two rifles are 22’s, a Remington 34 bolt and a Ruger 10/22 stainless. The little Bearcat is something I always wanted as a kid trainer and it came with a holster.

That right there is an arsenal. The authorities should be notified.

Come On guys, man up, look at that wimpy mag in that SKS. Nobody can do any damage with that little thing. And three of the five are 22’s, you guys sure scare easy. My seven-year-old granddaughter thinks that Bearcat is the perfect size, wimpy yes, but perfect.

And by the way the authorities are who traded them in.

The mormon shenanigans really made beer buying a royal pain in the ass, but that little brewery outside the entrance in Springdale had a slightly sour beer they called "Foray" and it may have been the best beer I've had in years. Win some lose some.

You'll like it. I had a gen 1 on the Tavor early on and upgraded to the gen 2 as soon as they were out. I contend that, for the money, it may be the best all-around optic on the market. If I had a budget rifle to build that needed to do everything well it would w/o a doubt wear a PA 1-6x gen II. Love the reticle. One of my favorite at any price.

HoneyBadger
08-17-2016, 14:15
That's an interesting reticle. It almost needs it's own instruction manual permanently attached to the scope! [LOL] I'm not in the market for a new scope, but for that price, it's almost worth buying one just to try out the reticle for myself. I do like most of the products and price points from Primary Arms. My favorite scope reticle so far has been the relatively simple Nikon M-223 BDC 600.

Yea.. me too.. if anything... I'll hold on to this and use it for a future supermotard or something. As for now, I'll keep my road bike off it. My steel bumper is rated 350lbs for tongue weight and the bike is about 400 lbs wet.... I can strengthen it later, maybe. Other than that, the hitch carrier is awesome and pretty sturdy.

Nice, I've been cooking Sous Vide for about 7 years now, built my first device myself which I still use every now and then. I also own 2 of the Sansaire units. I've cooked everything from full Prime ribs to corn on the cob in mine and love it. I actually set it up yesterday with a rack of ribs in it for tonights dinner. Once I pull the ribs out I'll pop some corn on the cob in. It makes the best corn you've ever tasted.

Nice! You should start a separate Sous Vide thread with some more details. I'm just starting out and am watching lots of YouTube and reading lots of forums. I have a buddy who has been doing it for years that is also guiding me. I'm getting a new vacuum sealer & cooking container as the metal pot isn't going to cut it long-term.

This container is what I use most of the time, I bought a lid for it and just cut the lid on my bandsaw to let the cooker stick out.; https://www.amazon.com/Cambro-12189CW135-Polycarbonate-Storage-Camwear/dp/B002NQB63E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1471618587&sr=8-2&keywords=cambro

You really always want to cover whatever container you are using, you lose a ton of water through evaporation.

Good tip on the lid. My buddy that's been doing it for a bit suggested something like this right here (https://www.amazon.com/6SFSCW135-Camsquare-Container-6-Quart-Polycarbonate/dp/B0015R9VXO) and I was about ready to order it up sans lid but I think I will go ahead and pop for the lid and modify it for the cooker. I think for my current needs (one or two items per time) it will work well but if I start wanting to do larger cuts of meat or larger services I will look into something larger like the one you posted. To me, it just seems that to get the proper depth you would have to use an awful lot of water each time for a couple chops, steaks or some eggs or something. For $14 shipped I think this one will suit my needs to get me off on the right foot. Before I click 'confirm' in my cart I'm going down to the basement to look at the pile of coolers I have to see if something will work that I already own. I know I've got some larger ones but I want something closer to the size of what I posted so I will likely just end up ordering the one I posted.

I really hadn't thought that a lid was that big of a deal but now I'm seeing lots of folks running them and since it's so dry here I assume it would be even more of an issue. All that being said, how do you secure your food bags? In my first cook I just used a cloths pin to secure the bags to keep them from moving around the container but if you have a lid how do you secure them to keep them from drifting towards the circulation of the cooker?

After I find a solution for the container dilemma I need to decide if I'm going to use a vacuum sealer or not. Sounds like many or just rocking the seal under water method that I used for my first cook with plenty of success.

RCCrawler
08-19-2016, 11:56
I vacuum seal all my bags so that sucks most of the air out, floating usually isn't an issue. The times when floating becomes an issue I usually toss a colander on top of the food and then put the lid on that.

I'll try to start a new thread for all of this stuff later so we don't hijack this one.

If you want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for an aftermarket one. The only one out there that doesn't break the bank is Lone Wolf and they are back ordered until God knows when. I have a Gen 3 Glock 17 on order at Neve's. When it comes in, I'll most likely sell the lower and keep the upper.

Yeah, a little better than the last one ~ 5 years january.

Finally got the docs to call me back. Nothing concerning in the MRI - but they want to compare with the previous ones. (can't they look this shit up? they have before) So I need to dig up the old discs. Or not. :)

EEG - nothing worth noting. So I spent money to find out nothing, that changes nothing. Frustrating.

I finally shot it this evening, doing my barrel break in, and it ran like a champ. Doing my break in it was still dropping groups under an inch. I had the codes read too, and it said it was the front impact sensors, so I replaced them. Still kept getting the service air bags warning light and message. So I just kept driving it.
Then I had to get some dealer (butt raper) work done, and they read the codes again, and now it says that the air bags had been deployed ???

Almost squeaked by the rest of riding season without a bike. I picked up a 'little' winter project to tinker with; 2006 Kawi ZX14. It is my first bike over 1000cc and it's a missile on wheels.

I had no intentions of buying another bike this year, nor was I even looking when I picked it up. It found it's way to me, literally. Too good of a deal to pass up. It needs a few things here and there but all the major parts are and I already have the missing front fender and mirrors put on.

It helps to mitigate the heat mirage when used on a rifle with magnified optics

It's also nice insurance for accidentally grabbing it after a few mags. Make that mistake once and they're worth it regardless.

e: Actually might be totally wrong on these new ones. I'd used them on the Sten, one on some post sample AR, and MAC10, and those were for that purpose, but I googled it and yeah looks like now the selling point is the mirage prevention. Do they still protect your hands or are they now just completely for mirage reduction?

Yeah the inner core is good up to 2000°f and the outer is like 3000°f, the rope has a higher heat rating than the putter cover. Got for the heat mirage, my sbr (don't accidentally burn myself/ melt my pants, and now I can put it down on a table without melting or burning the table which I've done by accident.

Neat. I never would've believed how hot those things could get until I played with them myself. I was friendly with some people who worked for a manufacturer and they had a post-sample M249 with some absurd suppressor on it and I can still remember how much of a pain it was to clean off the plastic from the folding table that had melted to it when I set it down.

If you're leaning towards a suppressor. Why didn't you go with a threaded bbl?

It will happen.

This was a pretty cheap entry and I figured I can just pick up a threaded barrel easy enough when needed.

Did I screw up?

Need to find a threaded barrel for one of my pistols too. Had I some forethought years ago before I started stamp collecting, I would have bought one with.

IMO, Yes. It's going to run you another $100+ to outsource that bbl for thread, recrown and remove front sight. Probably $150 on top of your original investment.

OR

I'd drop the money for a TacSol bbl, a magpul stock and ruger BX trigger. . Using the receiver & bolt assy.

I have one of them and it is comparable to the factory barrel. Cheaper and easier than getting the original one threaded.

A pottery wheel and kiln for Mrs. Hummer's burgeoning clay art endeavor. Actually a whole pottery studio, about $6K worth of stuff for ~25% of new cost thanks to Craigslist. I built the mobile base so we can move it away from the shop wall for firing, and added a downdraft vent system to pull gasses out of the building. The first firing is next weekend....

I've named the kiln, R2D2.

Yeah I foolishly sold off a well set up Shield 9 with full Apex kit, i'll probably get another Apex kit down the road, fortunately this pistol has seen a few rounds so the trigger is significantly better than factory new. Talon grips, night sights, and a couple spare mags are first on the list (once I get my Glock accessories sold).

For the dish ware etc they make really nice molds as opposed to turning by hand. My grandmother made them up till the week before she passed. Then just bake glaze/paint and remake
