You should buy a Bushmaster OCR in 308. You will want the 308 to get the reach but the carbine length and weight help up close.

It just so happens I have one for sale, slap an acog on it and go to town...

If M82 is out of question and you want to do something else than just look "tactical" and make noice, some of these might work: http://www.lesbaer.com/AR308.html

I was considering an OBR in 556.

Don't get me wrong, I shoot my 5.56 out to 600yds regularly in High Power comps but if you want to make an impression then you will want more gun, a 30 cal does nicely at that distance.

If you want a single gun that is good for everything that you don't plan on changing much, go with the FN 2000. Same range as your normal 16" AR but on a shorter lighter platform. It takes normal AR mags as well. You can get a tri-rail on the front, same sight set up ect. and again, it is lighter and shorter.

If you want something with a little more power, you can get an AUG in a 6.8 now.

I just can't afford the .50, I like it just fine but can't afford to shoot it.

He wanted something that was also good up close. I also like the M1A platform, could look at a scout model in 18inch.

18" AR in 6.8 SPC? I'm thinking that it would fit the bill plus the AR swappability.

It's good up close.. you don't even have to hit them... just blow out their ear drums and beat them as they are disoriented!

Me either but I sure wouldn't mind a Barrett!

She's pretty sexy. You should see the way she looks at you as you start to load up a mag...

When you pull her into battery... the sweet sound she makes as you run your finger across and flick the safety to fire.

The anticipation that builds as you caress the trigger..

and finally.. the DEAFENING report, and concussive blast you feel...

So satisfying...

Maybe I don't wanna sell her...

Yup, I've shot mine out to 1000 with iron sights. Hands down best bang for the buck in .30 caliber. Read Boston's Gun Bible for a very good look into the 308 battle rifle.

By the way, his top pick was the M14/M1A (revised edition)

I can't help myself here. I want a rifle that is prefect for up close, CQB, car work and general Call of Duty ninja shit. Also will need some Carlos/enemy at the gates sniper work with it. Mind you I can only afford to buy one rifle. What should I get.

I am surprised no one has said a AK yet.

But seriously I know exactly what you are thinking. I decided to get a socom 16 to try to have a one gun solution. it is pretty short rifle, packs a big punch and can reach out pretty far.

Plus it is pretty dam ninja[Coffee]
