So the fam and I get home from pueblo, we all go inside, then I go back out to the car to get some stuff out of the trunk. The moment I stepped outside the spidey sences started tingling. I stop, look around, do see anything but for some reason I'm very uncomfortable. I approach the car, there are some dogs barking and people talking about half a block down, thought the dogs were barking at the people talking, proceeded to the car, still feeling very uncomfortable. Uncomfortable to the extent that I kept looking all around, and found my gun hand sneaking under my shirt. I stick my head in the trunk, grab the stuff and close the trunk. Then I turn around ...

....

and I see ...

THIS!!!

no more than 12 feet from me, is a black bear, staring right at me.

Right at me!, there is no fence, no NOTHING in between us. Now yes, this is just a black bear, but in that moment, It might as well have been a grizzly, blood dripping from its FANGS as it stares into my soul on some crazy, man hungry blood lust...

There was a pause of course, as it is hard to pee while moving. Then (and amazingly I didn't drop anything) ... I start backing away, and for the second time in my life I clear leather and point my weapon at a living creature.

THEN THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENED ...

It turned and walked off. Aparently I didn't have the same effect on the bear as it did on me. I would have thought it would have been terrified by my manly 6' 135lb figure. I lowered my weapon and went inside for the camera, went out to the car and began to hunt down the man eater. Took me some chasing around to find it, and get a good picture, which you can view in my photo album. Enjoy. I need to go clean myself.

I was going to say, those pictures seem awfully close and high in count for someone who was as scared as you'd have us believe.

Edit: Your camera has a bright ass flash by the way.

A bear down in P-Town? Didn’t know they were down there.

We have bears at work pretty often and every time a bear is spotted we have to go check it out. It is hard to slowly back away when everything in your body say, “RUN DUMB ASS ITS A BEAR!!!!!”

After that I just got in my car and followed him/her around to get some pics, from INSIDE the car. I'm like a nice little slim-jim snack, no bear aproaching for me, thank you, plus I carry a 9.

Damn bear needs to respect you! BTW - "6' 135lb". Let's go to McDonald's and get some Big Macs.

Yeah I'll bet that was a moment, I've had that happen walking around peoples' property looking to talk to someone, you turn the corner and there's the dog. The heart jumps, the hair on the back of your neck stands out, etc. But those were just dogs......
