Just curious how many of you do marathon riding days on occasion.
I don't make it a habit but...
I rode from Killeen, TX home to Bailey in a day. 980.8 miles from my son's driveway to my garage. I left his house at about 0630 MST and arrived home a little after 2330 MST. I averaged about 57MPH and only stopped for fuel (about every 200 to 220 miles) and necessary potty breaks with one late lunch stop of about 15 mins thrown in.
I did it on a 2008 Harley Ultra Classic. No doubt I was tired when I arrived home but I'm not sure I could've done it on another bike. The HD is an extremely comfortable, long-distance capable and fuel efficient ride. I averaged almost 48MPG for the trip with most speeds between stops in the 65 to 70 mph range.
I almost rode 10 miles up 285 so I could turn around and do 10 miles back home to reach that 1000 mile mark. But I was too cold at that point and decided I could just round up! It was pretty close to 1000.

I did 1166 miles from AR to CO on my C-14. Something like 22 hrs. I slept for a bit on a picnic table in Kansas.
Did 860+ on my V'strom straight.
Rode from Plano TX to Winder GA on a SV.

1,620 miles in 23 hours 7 minutes. (that's correct, one thousand, six hundred twenty miles), more than half on two lane roads.
IBA certified bun burner gold.
I was whipped for days.
1000 miles in 24 hours wasn't really a big deal though, did that a couple times.
day after day of 800 miles was pretty easy.
132miles fixed gear 10.5 hours ...oh wait you meant motorcycle
Did Detroit to Tampa many years ago I think it was around 1100 miles, 20 hours +/-.
Old Browerd Co cop bike.

When I got my motorcycle (man do I miss it) I put 10000 miles on it in 6 months. The longest single ride was from downtown Vegas to Death Valley and back to Vegas. And only pulled over once for doing 110 (may or may not have been doing 150, I will not confirm) in a 70 between Pahrump and Death Valley. In my defense I was trying to catch up with the group who left an hour and a half earlier.
I ended up catching up.

I don't have a bike to add to this conversation but I have driven quite fast between Pahrump and Vegas.

Averaged a little over 90mph coming back from Daytona once, never again too grueling on the bod.
a few trips from central Mass to Daytona for bike week...about 1200 miles each way.
and while we were there, we usually made a day trip to Key west...another 450 miles each way.
The worst part about it is that the first 500 miles are cold and snowy the first week of march.
As we got older we decided to trailer to Virgina and ride from there...makes for a much more pleasant ride
I've done that ride on an 883 sportster, on a 77FXE, 78 FL, a 90 herritage, an 01 confederate, and once on a roadglide. It's a lot more enjoyable on a dresser (and sucked on the confederate, I peed blood for days after and couldn't walk without pain in the lower back.

I haven't ridden in ages...
I think I racked up about 270 in a day once. [Coffee]
Longest ride was to the springs and back here to junction. What was your average speed though? I pulled the trip on my GSXR 750 loaded with goodies... Lets just say most people can't get to Denver that fast! [Muaha]

Neil has good taste in bikes thats for sure.
I have a 1200 GSA and while it can go about 450-500 miles on a tank of gas, these days my ass and gas tank are about the same. If its windy, I drive. I dont mind the rain, its wind that I hate.

When I was young (30 + years ago) a friend of mine was trying to carry on a long distance relationship with a pretty little girl. We would leave SoCal on Friday after work and ride way up to NoCal to here grand parents farm on the CA/OR border. The distance was a little over 1200 miles and we typically covered this distance in about 14 to 16 hours depending on weather. Then we would leave on Sunday afternoon so we could be home for work on Monday morning. I rode a 1979 KZ1000 MKII and my friend rode his 1975 CB750 K5. We did this 4 times one summer and then she broke up with my friend.
