Anybody know if there are GS's in any numbers up in the higher elevations? Was thinking of going after them with my little 22 RF Ruger Charger west of CO. Spgs.

Sometimes I see lots of Squirrels on the ground. but most of the time the dog chases them up a tree.

Oh, OK
there are squirrels is all of our national forest, and will usually give themselves away by barking at you as you move thru the woods. I know every year archery elk and deer hunting how frustrating it can be trying to stalk up on a critter and those damn squirrels alarming everything. I cant see where you would have a problem finding them in any of our woods. good luck!
Takes alot to make a meal.

There are ground squirrels up in the high plains, commonly referred to as sage rats. A friend shoots them frequently up in North Park. I don't know where to go near the Springs.

red squirrels live in coniferous trees and eat pine cones, there is a season and bag limit. golden mantled ground squirrels look like big chipmunks, not sure but i dont think you can shoot them, colorado chipmunks are the little tiny ones and i dont think you can shoot them either.
BUT wyoming ground squirrels are fair game all year no limit. they are tan/ light brown, short tail, live like prairie dogs in holes in the ground, can really ruin some pasture in a hurry. killed 889 of them one year, i had 460 acres of pasture all to myself.
you can shoot Alvin and crew they are varmints.

But please be careful, they are not as easy to get anymore, they retaliate.
