Couple of nice shots of me with the Taurus in full recoil.
In other news: DAMN I need to lose weight. I didn't realize how fat I look.

Except for the rain that drove us off early.

Failed to sprain the wrist. My hand's a little sore but that's more from Karl's little lightweight .357 than the .454.
Oh, and he was unable to pop the lock on that guy's truck, but the guy's friends showed up so he wasn't stranded. I think Karl spent an hour or more on that thing. Too bad they have to go and make cars hard to break into and stuff :P

Ok after today I'm understanding the desire for the name badges a little more. [roll]
Met/remember 7idl, Psycho, Karl [uzi] and MP5eng, had shot w/ 2C before, and fellow newbie Scott followed me up. I think it was 2C who pointed out Hunter but I didn't get to say hi to him or many others. Great crowd! [btw I was the latecomer with the lefty hip holster]
Not sure whose truck was locked but when I left Karl and others were still working on it, hope you guys finally got it open. I stuck around after the range was cleared to put a few more rounds thru the Mini14. Man I need more gear! Shooting mat, better hearing protection, maybe a folding table and chair, BIG UMBRELLA.... Stupid rain...
Anyway here are some pics:
PsychoBoy (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/PsychoBoy.jpg)
2C (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/2CsAR.jpg)
That Sterling (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/Sterling.jpg) the guy (?) on the east end had.
Select-fire MP5 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/MP5select.jpg), ambidextrous controls.
Scott's AK (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/ScottsAK.jpg)
Whose MP5's were these (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/CoupleMP5s.jpg)? Someone nice let me shoot the one on top.
Don't remember whose this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/CoolAR2.jpg) was either.
That cool suppressed 22 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/Supp22.jpg) (someone remind me of the details/owner pls).
Thanks everyone!
Edit: well 2C's album helps a lot with the names, thanks man. Glad to hear the truck got opened eventually.

The MP5s on the table between you and Karl belonged to MP5engineer and his friend (dunno if he's registered here yet). MP5engy's gun does have the markings for select fire, but not the trigger pack, as he laments here (http://coloradoshooting.org/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4317).
The 'cool AR15' also belonged to MP5Engineer's friend. And the integrally suppressed 10/22 was MP5Engineer's. [/url]
ETA: Yes, I think I may have caused 7idl much annoyance at my nearly incessant requests that he print the badges PDQ.

mp5engineer's friend is Topherseven I believe....
But introductions took lower priority than shooting all the cool guns today.

HunterCO, Marlin has your tarp. It was quite moist last I saw, but will probably be dry in a month (assuming Dozer doesn't slobber all over it).

Correct on both statements. Sorry if I was not to social today, I was fascinated by MuzzleFlash's collection. The rain sucked but other that that the shoot was great.
I think only 2 or 3 people played with my guns today. If any of you guys want to try something please just let me know.
MuzzleFlashes's SRT 77/44 made my day. I have been wanting to check one of those out for quite awhile now.

Select-fire MP5 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/christhisguy/Panoply/MP5elect.jpg), ambidextrous controls.
Not an MP5. That is a 53, .223 version of the MP5.

I was at the Grand Prix today. Not sure if I'd've made it anyway, but that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. ;) Man, I haven't been to an official shoot since February or something lame like that. Maybe while the weather's still nice! Glad to see it was a good shoot!

oooooh, aahhhhh...
Yeah I see the much deeper mag well now. Learn something everyday.
I could have easily spent all day shooting other folks' guns. I'll just keep bringing extra ammo...

And I'm gonna hear about it from my shooting bud at work! [roll]
Had some 9mm too dangit...
2C had it right -- there was too much shooting goin' on for this newbie to keep up with all the cool guns. There was your uzi, Muzzlefalsh's Sterling, the 53 (his?), the FAL, Marlin's 454... ...ok didn't have ammo for those last two... all the ARs (LOTS of ammo)... GAH!
Alright that tears it. Next group shoot I attend, be forewarned... I will work my way down the line to shoot anything that's offered a/o that I have ammo for.
Kudos for your time spent on that guy's truck btw. Was he a member? Hope he remembered to go get his case and ammo from under that tree...

If you want to shoot all you have to do is ask. Being a newbie I would have gave you one mag. [wink]

First mag is free, but the next one is gonna cost you.
Face it, drug pushers aint got anything on the CO-AR bunch.
I offered these other new guys that showed up yesterday some rounds on my RRA.
I think we love getting other guys into black rifle disease.
In my case I don't know when, but it's gonna cost in excess of 12 grand.
Damn I wish that ship would come in.....Or at least show up on the horizon!
btw, anybody have any experience with AR piston uppers?
How about running one FA?

<casts sad look at all that unused ammo still in the bag...>
Really, thanks... I'll definitely try to catch you (and Muzzleflash, and...) next time. Hopefully I'll have the Mini14 thru its paces by then, and the weather will cooperate.

Hi guys
Yep, that was a V53 SBR with a reg. sear pack. It was having "issues" with reliable extraction again so it didn't get a full workout. I will need to schedule a day on the range and try to get it figured out.
Anyhow, was nice to meet you all. Wish the rain would have held off longer.
Thanks for letting my son shoot the suppressed 10/22, MP5-E. He enjoyed it!

Muzzleflash - I'm still having fond thoughts of your Sterling, and have showed the pic I took to several folks. I'm a big Star Wars nerd so those guns (and Stens) have huge appeal to me. If I catch you with it at a shoot again, I'll be the one standing behind you with a box or two of 9mm and a big stupid grin on my face, saying "oh pleeeeeease".
[duel]
[For the non-geeks: ILM prop guys used Stens to make the original stormtrooper guns. Han Solo's blaster started life as a broomhandle Mauser pistol, and the lightsabers were mostly Graflex camera flash handles. See "nerd" reference above.] [wink] [roll]

If you like Sterlings, there is a great Collector Grade book called the "Guns of Dagenham" that goes into their history. I correspond with David Howroyd, one of the authors from time to time. He told me that Bapty & Co Ltd in the UK took several Sterlings and had them demilled as studio props. From these, the prop makers modeled others that were used on the sets.
Here's a pic of David in the Ministry of Defense Pattern Room in Nottingham with a gold plated, presentation grade Sterling.

WOW! Just.... wow.
Thanks for the links Muzzleflash. That last one wanted me to login so (I'm guessing) I didn't get to see more pic(s) of yours, but crikey... gold-plated Sterling...
I'd be perpetually on the fence.
"Go ahead, shoot it!"
"Shoot THAT?!? Are you nuts?? Get the thing its own insurance and put it in a safety deposit box!"
"Ah go on... shoot it. You know you want to..."
That would continue until I imploded in a fit of indecision. [wink]
Cheers.

Sorry about the last link. They did that because too many .gov types were lurking and downloading all the pics. Now they have to get an account if they want to do that. [roll]
