for my 14.5 ar i would like something 1x to atleast 4 power as i have 1000 yards to mess around on while i dont shoot that far out a lot of my shooting is from 200-400 yards but i like the 1x speed when im 100 and under [M2]

i dont know too much about scopes i do know i got burned buying a used 4x ior with scratched glass and i want to get something new and with a good warranty i really want something tough also i dont want to be worried about dropping my rifle

Vortex viper PST, and a nice larue or bobro mount=about $700-$800.
spend the rest on ammo, mags, and other goodies.
at least thats the way I look at it.
If you want to go a little higher end, you can go up to a trijicon TR21/24, or a leupold 1.5-5 and still have plenty left over.

hope this helps,
Kenny

I've been using a US Optics 1-4 on my 3 gun rifle for the last year. Its made in the US, built very tough, and they take care of their customers.

Also, they build the scope to order, so you can have them make it with your choice of options.

I'm not a glass connoisseur but it looks pretty good to me, enough that I bought a second one with a different reticle.

Finding glass for 600yds from a 14.5 in the $1200 range is doable. US Optics has a nice selection of reticles. The Vortex Razor is a great choice too. Both have 1x and both are well backed by the supplier. 1000yds with a 14.5" 223 would be a stretch for any 4x optic though.

Meopta has a facility here in the US. The reason the release has been so delayed is because they have been filling European military contracts. If it's rugged enough for the average grunt, it should be rugged enough for the average 3gunner.

I have TA33 Trijicon mounted on a 14.5 inch AR. I was really surprised by how forgiving the eye relief is and how fast it scans vs the 4x Acogs I was accustomed to. Worth taking a look at.

Whoa, missed the range requirement. Also not certain Trijicon falls into the nice category.

I just mounted up a vortex viper PST 2.5-10 to a 16" (soon to be noveske 18"). Its nice. I will most likely be buying a 4-16x at some point. It has nice clear glass, positive clicks, illuminated reticle, ranging reticle and cool zero stops. For $550 including shipping from Midway, its hard to beat. Its mounted in a Larue SPR mount. Its "almost as nice as my buddies nightforce, being less than a $1800 scope.
