View Full Version : Guy said this on Facebook today...
Um...unless you're 100% Native American, don't run ya mouth about illegals this and illegals that. Morally, we're ALL here illegally. Remember, this country was conquered by people who murdered, raped, and took advantage of a rooted race. Karma is coming back, prepare yourselves to pay for your ancestors wrong doings. It's life! Stop whining!! lol
Karma huh? I'd love to see a group of alcoholic casino owners try and claim payback for something that happened before my family even entered this country through legal channels that existed back then. [AR15]
The guy who posted this I guess didn't read into American history, where the European "Conquerors" purchased over 70% of the land currently comprising the USA. Now did they pay an extremely low price? Yes, but not our fault that the American Indians were idiots back then. Sure atrocities were committed and many were murdered, but how am I to blame for that? I didn't do anything to anyone, I never owned slaves, I never made anyone move anywhere. I can run my mouth about illegals and what not... I PAY F***ING TAXES. And I also swore and oath to support and defend this great nation and our constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. With that said, since illegals are foreign enemies, I would be correct in defending my nation with any and all necessary force against these invaders, right? Not doing so would be going against the oath that I took.

Nothing quite like racism to help validate one's argument.
While I don't agree with the actions taken by the US government to acquire new lands during the forming of our nation, I also don't think that it's a valid argument for illegal immigration. There are so many benefits to living in the United States and those benefits should be attained legally and through the proper channels. One of those channels being hard, honest work.
I'm also growing tired of the emotional, often racist yelling, crying, and screaming about illegal immigration. We all get the frustrations that come with illegal immigration but nothing constructive comes from 90% of the crap that I hear people say anymore.
My family legally immigrated here in 1897 from Ireland. I don't owe nobody nothin.
Things were alot different then, Thought process, ideals, visions and conquests.

Damn near every piece of land on this planet was at some point in history taken, won or bought from other people that lived there "first". The USA is no different and those people that think it's the only time in history it's ever happened have their heads up their asses.
Dumb people view it this way...
Some dead people took it a long time ago = bad
Some alive people break the law and try to take it now = good
How does that ^ make any sense at all?

While a few tribes made out well most did not. The "alcoholic casino owners" as you put it are the exception and not the rule...
I have no problem with immagration as long as the immigrant has a job and doesn't expect any of the benefits of our society until they have earned it. We need a growing population to stabilize our economy. The housing market is in desperate need of a larger population, once we fill up the homes that we have then we can start building again (job growth).

The part about how people should immigrate legally or that the endless, pointless complaining is old?

The part about disagreeing with how the country grew through the efforts of the government acquiring land.
In the 1780s the country was founded as an independent country by the UK. Boundaries were basically Canada to the north, Mississippi river to the west Florida to the south and the Atlantic to the east.
What part of that do you disagree with and why?
The Louisiana Purchase basically extended the western boundary of the country to the Rockies. Do you disagree with the Louisiana Purchase of 1803? If so, why? The French seemed amenable to the deal.
A convention with the UK established the northern boundary of the country at 49 degrees north latitude.
Various negotiations with Canada, including bringing in an arbiter (the King of the Netherlands) established the state of Maine.
The independent Republic of Texas won freedom from Mexican rule. Another treaty between Mexico and Texas established boundaries as far north as Wyoming. Texas was then annexed into the United States.
Another treaty and the Gadsden Purchase basically added what is now the southwest US and parts of Colorado to the country and pretty much solidified the area bounded by the 48 contiguous states today.
In the late 1860s Alaska was purchased from Russia. Hawaii was annexed a little before 1900.
What about those various treaties and purchases do you disagree with? Maybe I'm mistaken but your post seemed to imply some sort of underhanded dealings resulted in the land acquisitions that make up the country today.
If you're referring to the Indians/Native Americans? Well, they didn't own the land. Other countries had laid claim to the various territories by proper means of the day. Were the Indians treated poorly? Yes, undoubtedly. However they did their share of mistreating others, including other tribes, too. Nobody was innocent in those affairs.
I'm really failing to see how the US gov't is the bad guy in acquiring land through the treaties and purchases of the day.
As far as the charges of racism...I think those who scream loudest about racism are generally the true racists.

First off, I really appreciate the well laid out reply. There's not much to counter.

That was the crux of my extremely poorly communicated point. Broken treaties taint westward expansion but as you noted, there was nothing that was done on the up and up so to speak.
As far as the charges of racism...I think those who scream loudest about racism are generally the true racists.
Fair enough. I'm just truly frustrated by arguments that could be completely valid but instead consist of veiled and overt racist comments that detract from the overall meaning.

I couldn't agree more. But I don't think it's limited to one side.
I'm all for legal immigration. I will continue to loudly voice my opposition regarding illegal immigration to my elected "representatives"...mostly in the senate. Mike Coffman is my US representative and I think he's an outstanding member of congress.

Most definitely. If more individuals would get on board with this, things may actually improve.

Blaming Hollywood for the misconceptions seems like the right thing to do here.
