No matter the caliber or finish.
Tell me what you like and don't like about it?
Tell me if you like shooting it and the damage it does?
Did you buy one just to find that you leave it at home and don't shoot it?
Would you buy another one?

I don't own one, but have a couple of friends that do, and I've shot them before (caliber is .50) and wow, a lot of fun to shoot. It's a heavy gun (with full mag), wild and crazy to shoot but does substantial damage and really well put together weapon. I'd say if you can afford it and want one, do it!

Sounds like really expensive ammo....[M2]

My main shooting buddy and neighbor has a 'baby eagle', compact 9mm Desert Eagle. I've shot it a bunch and it's very accurate and a ton of fun. My buddy absolutely loves his and is looking for another baby eagle and a full size Jericho as well.

They are nice pistols, and they shoot well.

The only thing I don't like them is their customer service, and their affiliation with the crazy Unification church folks...

Baby Eagle and Poly Eagle-nice pistols, well put together albeit the Baby is a touch heavy.

Desert Eagle- expensive-big-pricey-accurate due to the fixed barrel and rotary bolt- spendy- heavy- overpriced- ergonomics of a brick- cost alot- well made - set you back a chunk -no practical purpose.

Did I mention they are expensive?

My observational experience is mostly from the .44 version. They're really picky about ammo and have a break-in period that can be long. Don't expect a new one to be 100% functional. If you're looking to add a fun range gun to your collection, have the money to spend, and know what you're getting into then go for it. Be warned that some people will laugh at you and the wrong type of people will think you're cool. A better solution is to trick a friend of yours into getting one and letting you shoot it every once in a while. Oh...and make sure it's shiny. There's no point in getting one if it doesn't attract as much attention as possible.

I have the Desert Eagle 1911G It is an amazing gun. Very well put together, very accurate. The frame to slide fit is very nice no movement. Very nice Firearm.

Not just the 44. The 357 will only function well with 158 grain full house magnum loads.

I've owned the 44 and 357. Bought both in an estate sale for $900 for the pair.
IMHO a big honking heavy useless gun. Sold both within a year.

If power in a handgun is what you are after I have a 15" 30-06 pistol that takes the cake.
They were also made in 45-70, 35 Remington and 300 Win Mag!!

The gun I am referring to another IMI/Magnum Research gun.. The Lone Eagle.

I passed on a Desert Eagle 44 mag, do to the fact that you had to hold the mag in for the last round lock open to work. I am kind of kicking my self in the butt for passing on it for $900.00. But I am not sure if it would just be a mag problem, and could not justify spending that kind of cash on a broken gun. Has any one ever had this problem with there 44 and should I go buy it, I do not know to much about the desert eagle 44 mags. I am a 1911 fan and do have the D.E 1911g incredible gun, and I would expect the same from any of there products. Also it looks like it has had a hard life, and I am thinking $700.00 to $800.00 value, any input?

I do know that if you trade one in on another purchase the guys at the gun store with offer only $600 or so for it no matter what. I would like to be standing next to someone one day and offer $700 just to get a deal.

Offer him whatever you think its worth and see if he bites. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

If you are wanting something big, you should also consider the 1911 in the 50 GI. The Desert Eagle is an awesome gun, not that affordable, but still awesome.

http://operatorchan.org/k/arch/src/k131303_50GI_1911.jpgYeah if you want to spend over $3000 on the 50 GI that has less power than a 10mm, instead of buying a Desert Eagle 50 AE for $1500, that would be a great idea.

Big, heavy, expensive, awkward controlls, lots of sharp edges and other reasons why I dont like them.

They haven't been made in Israel for a long time (much easier to build guns in the US than deal with all the government import crap).
