There are quite a few companies out there working on Advanced prosthesis for vets that are amputees, that one is really cool! I've seen some that are "new legs" that enable running, flexation at the ankle, and even enables the user to kick a soccer ball.

This device is the Luke arm developed by Dean Kamen (DEKA Research), the same people that developed the Segway and the Slingshot water purifier.
