View Full Version : Cherry Creek Park Shooting Center
I went there for the first time on Sunday and will never, ever go back. What a joke. $9 to get into the park, then another 15.50 per shooter. Range Nazi's hovering over you, treating people like children.
Sure $15.50 for all day sounds cheap but not worth my time when I can go to Pawnee Sportsman's Center and shoot all day for $15. Plus they have an honor system as far as cease fires to check targets. I have never had a problem at Pawnee.
The only reason I went to Cherry Creek is I was in the area visiting friends and we decided to go shooting.
One of the range Nazi's (I mean Officers) thought my M1A was a Garand.
Also 100 yards? A little short of a distance for me.
That range is pure garbage.
So what did you do that earned you the attention of this so-called Range Nazi?
Absolutely nothing, I'm not new to ranges, I am new to very strict protocols that cause unneeded stress while trying to relax and have a good time. I'm not the type of person that likes to be bothered by complete strangers. Seemed to me that they run people through there like cattle and don't give a damn. Very disrespectful employees in my opinion.
Lesson learned I guess, I'll spend my money and my time at a shooting range elsewhere, up closer to my dwelling where personal freedom is respected and encouraged without sacrificing safety.

the thing about that range is that they MUST treat everyone as the lowest common denominator.
They don't know you any more than you know them, and considering some of the recent events there they have to be a tad harsh on the safety rules.
I agree its not a pleasant experience for an unknown experienced shooter.
No one shot at your or killed themselves while you were there, count it as a win and be happy with it.
with the ass-monkeys getting state/open shooting areas closed, this may be one of your only options sooner than you think.
You have some very valid points there Byte. Good thing the range I frequent is owned privately and in the middle of nowhere.

I was there as well on Sunday. Not much has changed there in their protocols since the twins tried/did commit suicide that I could see.
jmg8550, I think I was a couple of stalls to your left as I noticed an M1A in the rack during the target changes.
It is getting expensive to shoot there. $24.50 to shoot for a couple of hours.
The range is close to the house for me to shoot at known distances, mostly comfortable (being a lefty in a righty world causes some grief), I was left alone and not spoken to the entire time I was there, and with the exception of getting some brass pinged off my bare legs from the guy next to me, I was able to enjoy my time and decompress and de-stress with some round banging.
That, and the fact I had just left BPTactical's place where he did some awesome work for me that I was very pleased with, made for a good Sunday for me (oh yeah, the wife left me alone all day!).
Oh well, my $.02.
Yup, I was the guy with the wood stocked M1A super match and the Savage Model 10 lefty. Were you the one with a couple AR's and an AK with some brown/tan stock parts? I know what you mean as far as being lefty. It can be difficult at times.

I was to his immediate left. All I had was my scoped AR.
