I was just wondering about aftermarket triggers, mainly either a giesselle SSA or a JP with a speed hammer. After about 7 months with a GI trigger I would like to upgrade to something a little better. the giesselle and the JP are both about $180 otd, so I'm not too worried about price. I would rather stay with something like this (single stage, lower price point), instead of something like a gold trigger, just because I dont have that much money. Have you guys shot with the aforementioned triggers/do you have them on your guns, and do you like them? would you suggest something else?

input is appreciated.

thanks,
Kenny

Get the Geissele. Easy.

I had the JP trigger in one of my rifles many years ago. Excellent trigger in my opinion. That being said, my step dad swears the Geiselle triggers are the best and I will probably try one in one of my rifles soon.

sweet. sounds like I'll go with a geiselle. I talked to mike at bowers earlier, and he said the same thing. Out of curiosity, what makes one better than the other? not doubting opinion or anything, just wondering.

thanks again,
Kenny

Never used the JP, but I have a Geiselle on my AR and it's the nicest trigger I've ever pulled (and being an Army vet I've pulled a lot!). Everything I've heard is that the difference is not-easily noticeable between the two, but its there. The Geiselle is smoother, easier, and more reliable/durable. Everyone I've talked to who does builds, smithing, or works with guns say it's the very best you can get.

For a single stage the JP is the best you can get.

For a two stage the Geissele is the best. There is some different flavors of Geissele triggers. The biggest difference being adjustability. The $300 version you can play with the weights, the $200 is pretty much set.

Giessel, Jard, Chip McCormick and such are true "drop in" units.
The JP needs some fitting typically, the disconnector needs timed usually.
All good stuff and will make a noticeable difference.

JP is the best single stage trigger for sure. It does require proper fitting and the closer you run the trigger to that perfect glass like break, the more it has to be fine tuned and maintained. Great triggers, but if you shoot alot, it will need some adjusting from time to time. Giesselle is extremely popular in 3G as is ARGold.
