Three days ago I'm in my doctor's office. I have no health insurance so I'm paying cash my $85 so the doc can prescribe me some antibiotics for the clap, I mean cough I have. Standing in front of me are two Hispanic ladies. They could have been blue for all I care, but they each are holding 2 kids with 3 on the ground and one of them is pregnant. They are getting checked for what seems to be sniffles and coughs, cool. When the finance lady asks for a photo id the prego says, "I'm undocumented." The finance winch then says "are you signed up with Colorado Indigent Health Services?" I've never heard of that one before. Do you know how much she paid? 6 freaking dollars!!!! There is something very freaking wrong when an illegal alien whose popping kiddo's out left and right gets subsidized health care [Rant1]. Have any of you actually heard of that program? I think that's what it was called.

Here's a good story:

The wife and I went down to apply for financial aid so my wife could go back to school. After the "testing" the financial advisor says we make too much money and my wife would have to be a single mother to get approved for anything. Ok whatever! Then there's this illegal alien in the same room and i heard her advisor say she was approved for $3500 a semester but needed to see CO ID. Then the illegal says she has no documentation as she just got here...her advisor says, "okay we'll deal with that later, here's your first check". WTF. Oh and this lady was early-mid 40's so I would guess she's using "school" money to buy other shit or send home. I really can't stand it anymore....it's never about us it's always about them now:(

If you are out of work or make very little money (25K a year?) you can qualify for that program. OP.... there is no shame in getting healthcare for yourself. As to the woman you were talking about. Yeah it sucks...... but the only way to fix that is to amend the constitution. So get workin on that. I'll be sure to add my own ideas for fixes too ;)

The Colorado Indigent Care Program (CICP) provides funding to clinics and hospitals so that medical services can be provided at a discount to Colorado residents that meet the eligibility requirements for the CICP. However, the CICP is not a health insurance program.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for discounted services under the CICP, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
1. Must be a Colorado resident or migrant farm worker and a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant;
2. Must have income and resources combined at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL); and
3. Cannot be eligible for the Medicaid Program or Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+).

How can a person apply for this program?

Applications must be completed by a clinic or hospital that is participating in the CICP. The applicant or responsible party must sign the application within 90 days of the date of service.

Apply anyway... go down to Denver General and talk to a counselor. You'd be surprised. But yeah if you are not poor its hard. You don't need to be homeless. I know a few people who got it. One who was a contractor before but his liver is failing so he can barely work. Still has a house still earns a paycheck but if not for roommates he would be fucked.

My Wife immigrated here from the rich and wonderfully prosperous country of the Philippines.( Because you know 60% unemployment is so much better.) I met her while stationed in Kuwait where she was making a whopping 240 bucks a month. We married and now she is here working at a gas station on her feet for 40+ hours a week at $8/hr. The woman has worked the entire time I've known her.

Most legal immigrants have better work ethics than the entitlement Generation citizens I know.

Actually here is how she skirted the system. Child born in the US is a US citizen. She is the childs legal guardian. Which makes her a resident of this state. Citizenship is not required to be a resident.

Fix the 14th.

I was simply trying to make the point, they left their country for a reason. I am sure it was to better their lives, more so than in their own country. It's what we stand for.

For example, I lived in Texas for 11 years, I moved to Colorado to better my life and to better provide for my family.
Point I was making, I left one place to move to another, to better my life.

Agreed, I fully support LEGAL immigration, do it the right fucking way. When they come here and have their fucking anchor babies and then get automatic resident status, and can get all the fucking handouts from the State... ON MY DIME! I get furious. When the system fails, and I assure you it will, I will not participate but I will fully support the execution of all non-legal immigrants. Keep America AMERICAN! Byte, your wife is prime example of the RIGHT way to do it. It sucks that she works her ass off for such low pay. I know several people who are here legally from Europe and the Pacific rim, and they are just as pissed about all the "undocumented" (bullshit language because what they are is illegal aliens that need to GTFO!), and it's true, they have the work ethic that makes most of the born-citizens look lazy as hell! Get rid of anyone who is not here legally! I don't care how, just make it fucking happen soon! If they have a visa and are working on their citizenship, great! That helps to add one more tax payer.
Side note: I almost lost it when I got into an argument the other day with an illegal who jumped the fence, hitchhiked or bused his way to CO and no just works for under-the-table wages. How I almost lost it? He send all of his money he makes to his wife and NINE FUCKING KIDS back in MEXICO! About 15% of his income goes back into our economy. BULLSHIT! I told him to get the hell out of my country. He fired back with he has as much a right to be here as me.... WHAT!? I about shot him and would have said "Not any more you don't"

I remember a a news story a couple years ago about how the city of Denver deported several illegal immigrants back to Mexico and one of those immigrants tried to get back to Colorado, illegally, and he drowned trying to swim somewhere. The family here in Denver tried to sue Denver for deporting their father causing his death. Don't remember the outcome but shit like this will happen more and more!

He applied for for help with a really large health bill and simply lied about what he owned and made. His bill was paid by CIHS. I called the people over there and told them that I wanted to report an abuse of the system and was told that they didn't care. That they didn't have the time to investigate! [Rant1] With attitudes like that the system will never change!

Change it so that just because you're born here doesn't make you a citizen... if your parents are citizens and then have a child, great! Happens everyday and no one cares.
I'd also make it so that you live and work here you have 5 years to learn English, and that's upon arriving (legally). I even would say take the funding from stupid pointless programs (like eliminate the IRS) and use some of the savings for funding to even have state sponsored English training so we can have a productive workforce, and then we can all be rid of that stupid "Press 2 for Spanish" bullshit. Do you think the Germans have a "Press 2 for French" when you call somewhere? Hell no! Why do we pander to those who come to OUR country but don't abide by OUR way of doing things. And no one better bring up that libtard crap that "America technically doesn't have an official language," because we do, read our Constitution, Road Signs, and Laws! That's kinda disgusting. As a younger person, I hate all these abuse of programs. I hate watching food stamp folks getting king crab legs to sell or sell the cards outright. (Seen it first hand, not just the usual heresay) The people who "need" this help so often are in that bad situation because of their inability to budget. Happily paying high costs for individually packaged/name brand crap. especially when it comes to drinks.

I out of college got stuck working min wage and still managed to house/feed and afford a $2,000 rifle. Because I'm actually smart w/ my money. Add kids of course that goes out the window. But still, now I'm doing better at like $24k/year and I've got a $30,000 car that I'm comfortably paying off on top of my gun hobby. My biggest gripe is social security because I know 100% that money is gone, it wont be there when I retire.

CICP by the way, is only supposed to be good for a year I was told. I did end up on it during a lapse in health insurance when I had a really bad infection in my knuckle. Because of my income the discount was minor, really mainly cut the ER portion down.

I'm tired of my tax dollars not going to US Citizens but instead to aid illegals who refuse to pay taxes, leech off of our faulty systems, and then commit crimes against us and live off the system. You took two parts of my post out of context. One was "when the system fails" meaning that when we go to the point of anarchy and the process of rebuilding a better and stronger America, IF ultranationalists went around killing those that aren't here legally (before the collapse) I wouldn't be against them. Then I stated how my anger almost- keyword almost- got away from me because some guy claimed he had a RIGHT to be here.... I find that everyone can have a right to be here, but there are systems and channels in place they must follow first, then they can live here all they want, when they're legal US Citizens paying income tax, speaking English, and their money spent is feeding back into our economy.

I understand the frustration around illegal immigration and sending money back home. It's leeching off our economy at every possible point. My mom is a naturalized citizen, as well as my fiance's entire family. They've done it right. I also know some illegals, and I know how hard it is for them to even get the process started. Many of them are saving up for it, and/or have their names on a waiting list already. I know of a few others who are nothing but a detriment to our country and society.

That's the first part of the first paragraph of the fourteenth amendment.

I've heard some pretty smart people argue that if someone is here illegally, they aren't necessarily subject to the jurisdiction thereof (simply because they're here illegally and should be deported). Therefore, the 14th doesn't apply.

I'm not an attorney am sure there are smart people on both sides of this issue. But I'm not completely sure the 14th needs to be changed to fix this issue.

Thank you for pointing out the language of the amendment. It was never intended that citizens of another country be given free citizenship, thus the "subject to the jurisdiction there-of" language. If they are a citizen of another country that is who they are subject to the jurisdiction of. The supreme court has never ruled on this so people (liberals) have just assumed that anchor babies are citizens. I don't consider them as such but my opinion is not worth much.

California passed a proposition years ago denying government supported programs from being used for illegals. The SC overturned it. We now see what that has brought to CA, a state in virtual bankruptcy. I have read that 70% of all children born in Los Angeles are to illegal residents.

We don't need to change the 14th amendment, we need to take a case before the supreme court to enforce the language that is in there. Hopefully while we have a conservative majority.

We've got enuf of our own who are out of work or working at low paying jobs. We should give them a helping hand, but continuing to pay for illegals only takes it away from the citizens of this country.

Fort Collins is 99.9999999% white. There are 8 non-honkies up here, and none are Iraqi. I know 2 of them, and they will vouch for the other 6 since they play golf with them on Saturdays [Beer]
