No disrespect intended here, I'm just curious about something.

EVERY time I've been to Tanner, as well as a few other events, I've seen this fellow wearing BDUs standing there saying "Just a dollar donation to help support our troops." Fellow doesn't seem to have rented a table and isn't handing out any information.

Anyone know anything about who this fellow is and what those dollars are going towards? I'm just wondering. Thanks.

I think he has a web site. I got a business card from him once so I could check out his web site to see what it was all about. I lost the card before I could check. I don't care what someone says they want they money for, I'm not forking any over until I check things out to see where my money is really going.

I feel the same way about the guy I saw saying how only $1 will help feed Colorado families. His donation bucket was a pressure cooker with a slot cut into the top with a sawzall.

Reminds me of the story years ago of a guy that placed a tiny ad in a national magazine that merely read "send $1 to" and a P.O. Box#. The guy made a TON of money that way.

I have some BDU's, I could support my shooting habit!

I believe it was "Send me a dollar and I'll tell you how to get rich"

That's probably another one. The one I remember was just "send $1 to...", no offer of anything.

There's this one, but it turns out it's false. Makes a good story though! http://www.snopes.com/crime/clever/carpark.asp

don't forget the Grass $X per pound, completely legal. Guy was sending those who sent money in his lawn clippings.

Do you meand the "Leonidas Fund" guy? "Sending packages from home'... I think he raises money to send care packages, support local returning vets and maybe 'raise awareness'. Leonidasfund.org is/was the web. I didn't see him there this weekend.

He was there. I dont contribute because I know nothing of his Venture and I just dont think that pulling on our heart strings is cool. He has his daughter there every show as well, a pre-teen, and he has her asking people for money. What give with that. Even if the cause if just, I just dont like being acosted for $

If he at least had a table I wouldn't even think twice about the guy. No table, no literature, not even a clipboard. Just "gimme a dollar . . . it is supporting the troops." Not only is he at every Tanner I've been to, but other shows at the Western Complex as well. As far as I can tell, he isn't connected with any charitable organization and just buys a ticket so he can panhandle in a fake military uniform. Have not seen anyone with him before, but haven't been to Tanner in a while.
