anyone seen any HUGE deer this year? trying to narrow down where to look. i have found some good ones, but nothing big enough for a once in a lifetime tag. looking for a minimum 210 typical, and 235 or bigger non-typical.
i have scouted in 43,471,47, and 44 so far.

Not a fan of these kinds of tags/hunts

Records should be 100% via chance not via $$$ spent to obtain them

Good Luck, the deer are out there.

Funny thing. Best muley I've ever seen in CO was in my neighborhood in the west side of the Springs 2 yrs ago.

I see at least 4-5 of them every morning on my way to work, still in full velvet off of 160 between ft. garland and the top of laveta pass. some of them I have to look twice to make sure they are deer and not elk.

The Hotel I work for has several bucks in the 220 class range. They are all over the golf courses and on the grounds just munching away at our flowers.

how the hell, did you end up with that? A guy I work with got a governers tag at RMEF banquet one year he only put in $200.00

I just mounted a 244 5/8 offical mulie from the platte river around Sterling, his kids might be running around out there. you can look at him on my web site, echohawktaxidermy.com. I can also hook you up with a couple of guys that will know.

money will not be much of a factor for me, i dont have enough for most people to divulge anything. in the right situation i may pay a trespass fee, or a finders fee if someone can point me to a deer that i end up taking.
there is just so much country to look at, so many deer to compare. if i had no job and enough money to scout everyday, i still couldnt cover all the ground i would like to. but i will put in as much time as i can to cover all the likely areas.
i won the tag via a raffle. $100 in tickets. (now everybody hates me)

Sweet score!

Biggest deer I have seen have been some monster mulies. Up on a private ranch west of collins.

So how long you think before our anti gun gov pulls the tag???

that will never happen, Governors tag program brings in way to much money to this state and many others. just think how many tickets the state sold for that drawing, and that is not the only tag they raffle. quite an influx of money into the state for one deer tag. some states get easily into the 6 digit number for tags. Old Hickenpooper is not going to touch that with a ten ft. pole.

there are 4 governors tags for deer. 2 raffle and 2 auction. the auction licenses routinely sell for over $100,000. last year the two auction tags brought in over $200,000 for habitat improvement. the two raffles brought in more in addition. i am pretty sure that ALL the money raised from the tags goes to habitat improvement.
i buy tickets every year for moose and deer, so if you count the years i didnt win, i have a little more than $100 in it. but i buy the tags knowing the odds are low, knowing that my money is not squandered by some goverment agency makes it worthwhile.
