I would like to know why Kimber 1911 pistals are so high in price. I have compared there 2000 dollar 1911 against my 800 dollar 1911 being a Desert Eagle, and also my Smith & Wesson that is very lightly used, and to be honest I do not see why they are so called better 1911's. I was just wondering if anyone can give me a good solid reason, why a guy would go spend 2000.00 on a kimber when it is sitting right next to a 1000.00 S&W or Sig. The frame to slide fit on my D.E and Smith is none just like any good quality 1911. I mean I know a guy that likes them so much he named his Daughter Kimber.

Which $2k Kimber are you talking about?

It could just be preference.

I'm a Sig guy myself and I wouldn't spend $5 on a S&W much less the $1000 you mentioned. I'm sure someone would ask me why I would spend the bucks for a Sig over some other manufacturer.

A little off topic but there's nothing wrong with the name Kimber. That is all.

Kimber is an awesome name. I will never name my kid that though. I have a "friend" named Kimber, smoking hot, and we've done things that'd make a pornstar go "Damn!"... and I DO NOT want that to be my daughter lol.

I like the Smith 1911 I have seen my version of the sw1911 sell for over 1500, But price is not what I am talking about it is a little but what i want to know is what makes them better 1911's then the rest, cause I just dont see it, and as far as what modle 1911 Kimber I was looking at I dont know, it was 2 toned, I also looked at a Wilson Combat for 2200

"...wondering if anyone can give me a good solid reason, why a guy would go spend 2000.00 on a kimber..."

I didn't, I spent $752.00 (in 00') on a base Classic Custom that met my specs and needs. You can find deals everyday for a good base Series I at about the same price or, a lesser price-point Kimber than $2K, or buy "another" preferred Mfgr of choice at whatever feature/price-point you desire.

Why would a guy fuck-up his marriage, family and future for 19 year year-old piece of sporadic ass? People do what they want to do, who cares what the price-tag [cost] is? [LOL]

Old pic, she is a bit different these days (VZs, Pearce gooves, etc.)

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/cunroe/Picture013.jpg Thats kind of my point, I dont think that the kimber I held in the shop is any better than my 1911. I will give it this the finish on it looked realy good but for that price, would you want to shoot it, I only shoot one of my pt1911 pistals I have I have my shooter, and my collectors. But you can find a good 1911 for a great price and it does not have to be a kimber, or a Smith, RIA or what ever else, I think it is like anything else, persanal opinion.

"...would you want to shoot it....

No, for that [general] price-point I'd be shooting a Brown, Wilson or STI.

I'm guessing you saw a Gold Combat or possibly a Super Match (an over priced one at that), but even at the $1500-$1700 price tag I've seen them for, they're not worth it IMO. Although you may not have seen it, I'm willing to bet fit and finish were worlds better than that of your the DE (let's not mention the hideous rollmarks) Sights, finish, quality of parts, mag well, ambi, some hand fitting, etc. go a long way on the final product. Trying to compare your DE to a Combat Gold or Super Match is like comparing any Kimber to Wilson, or a TRP to a NN...doesn't quite work in my head.

Plus... Kimber's frames don't say "made in Israel". [Coffee]

I paid about $630 for mine out the door, but it was with a substantial military discount at my local AAFES BX.

These 1911's are made by BUL Israel, and imported by Magnum Research.

I hate to say it, but those of you who are naysaying this gun either havent shot one, or are picky with your brands and dont like MR products and its smearing over into your opinion of this 1911....

Mine has awesome fit and finish and outperforms both the springfield 1911 and Para USA 1911 I have had. It also outperforms many of my friends springers and kimbers... etc.

Heres some pics of mine.

I've never owned or operated a daewoo(sp?) but I could give you a list of reasons why I never will. You're happy with it, that's all that matters.
