So we upgraded my wifes phone and gave her old one to our 9 year old for when hes home alone (like an hour at a time). The phone is web capable but I dont have a data plan for it so its pay as you go. He wont purposely use the web but accidentally still costs me $$$. Is their a way to block the web from a phone all together?

When I wanted to block mine from doing that I called the provider and had it blocked/removed there.

Yes, Verizon will block it for you. I've had it done in the past.

Verizon is not gonna charge him for using his wi-if.

No, they won't but if the phone has a browser the kido can still use it. I guess I go the impression that 'certain' sites were a concern; re-read - charges are the issue. [Bang]

Also for what it's worth, parents don't allow your kids unfettered access to the internet. The internet is for adults. There are some programs that will block all web traffic except to a set of whitelisted sites that are known to be kid-safe. You can adjust that list as you see fit.
