DEAR CONGRESS, Last year I mismanaged my funds and this year my family and I can't decide on a budget. Until we can come to a unified decision that fits all of our needs and interests, we will have to shut down our checkbook and we will no longer be able to pay our taxes. I'm sure you'll understand. Thank you very much for setting an example that we can all follow

The sad part is that us every day folks have had to make some pretty major budget adjustments this past year or 2. Why in the hell can't they do the same ? I see no sacrifices being made by the people who are supposed to be representing us. It seems that egos and self interests are running the country's finances instead of common sense. Excuse the rant it's just that this whole subject just gets to me. [Coffee]

Haha, that thought crossed my mind too. Well put Mtn man!
Not surprising that congress would rather continue to get paid nearly $200K/year- Speaker of the House makes $223,000 a year! I don't think they'd take a pay cut to help fix our economic situation.

A cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) increase takes effect annually unless Congress votes to not accept it.
Congress has never voted against the COLA increase.

Yep this statement works with the common folk that have morals, but the statement the government lives by is "whats good for the government....well the rest of you can just go fuck yourselves..."

I like your letter Mountain man
