View Full Version : magazine not securing in the mag well...
Okay, so i purchased a used WASR in 5.45 off of here a while back, and the first time i go to shoot it, i rack the slide back, and it wont go all the way forward.. the bolt is trying to strip the round, but is coming into contact about half way up the round.... now, if you hold the rifle by holding the magazine and pulling it towards you, the rifle will feed rounds reliably and otherwise fires like a champ... so, should i just attempt to clamp down the magazine well a bit?

You have a WASR that the "Beavers" at Century got rambunctious on opening the magwell or the mag catch is a touch out of spec. Pretty common issue but typically won't cause issues. Is this a NIB rifle? If so then hold Century to task, they actually are pretty decent at warranty issues.
If not touch base with me-usually a pretty simple fix.
Don't try squeezing the receiver to snug up the magwell-you won't be fixing the issue.
Side to side play generally won't cause too much issue, fore/aft play is a different matter however.
Edit-I missed the part that you picked it up used. Try calling Century and if you don't get anyplace with them touch base with me.

by pulling the mag back i assume it raises the rear sounds like you have too short of a mag catch lever, you can build yours up with weld and grind and file to size or just replace the mag catch lever
