View Full Version : East Side of Pike National Forest
Hi, I am new to the area, Larkspur, and was wondering if there are any locations accessible from the East side of PNF? I find it a bit strange with all the open land around that getting to a range is a good hour+ drive North or South. Would like to find something around Castle Rock.
Thanks

For the most part, as far as I know, most of that area is set up for the MC trails. Hard to find spots for shooting, but there are a few. I had them on my GPS map years back, I'll see if I can dig them up. Welcome. Karl.
Hello,
I'm new to the state and new to the forum, but not new to guns. This topic interests me as well. I did a search on places to shoot near Littleton, and read in one of the threads that PNF doesn't allow shooting from June till August. Is this true? Where do people in the area go shooting?

Just certain areas. Where we do our monthly shoots down here is OK. No shooting around Manitou Lake and other populated areas during the summer "hiking months". Karl.
Karl-
The only place I have found is Dragon Man - East of Colorado Springs. I need a place where I can use my M-11 (registered) without problems. But that is a good hour plus drive for me. It looks like your "South Range" area is about as far. I have also noticed a lot of clubs will not allow Full Auto - if you find those notes on places on the East side of Pikes NF please send them along.
BTW - do you allow FA on your monthly get together?
Thanks

And a few westies that I don't know the specific names of. Then there's also those silly ol' silencer afficionados. mp5engineer, and those SBR guys too. [poke] Yeah, we have a few guys with fun toys that show up. Bring what you have. Karl.
Did anyone come up with a spot on the East side?

There's always Rampart Range.
Kind of scary up there though.
I'm down by the Security water-tower, so it takes just as long to drive up Rampart Range Road as it does to buzz down the interstate to PWSA.
