Anybody else do it? Anybody against it?

I carry every Sunday ... never discussed it with the pastor or anyone else at church, but I carry everywhere I'm allowed to by law anyway.
For those against it I have a simple response; Matthew J. Murray (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Colorado_YWAM_and_New_Life_shootings).

If I were to attend church (another discussion for another thread) I would. When I pick up my daughter from her youth group, I carry and she knows this and said she feels better when I show up and knows she doesnt have to worry. She isnt a worry wart, think that she just likes me around for some reason or another HAHAHA[M2]

Once upon a time many states had laws requiring at least one person to be armed at any church service.
Just respect the wishes of your church leaders.
If asked not to carry at church I'd find another church. Frankly I suspect there are several people packing at my church though so I don't expect I'll ever run into that problem.
I always do. Like Zundfolge I carry everywhere I am legally allowed to. I don't make a big deal out of it, and I doubt anyone, anywhere, ever knows I am carrying, but unfortunately these days churches are another place where lots of people generally without firearms are gathered, making them ideal places for armed criminals to assault, thinking they will have the only firearm and so will have their way. And a bitter ex-husband or ex-wife with a vendetta is just as likely to show up at church as anywhere else I suppose, since they know exactly where their target will be and when. I don't intend to be helpless, nor to leave the sheep without a shepherd when the wolf is at the door, if it happens at my church.

Its better to beg forgiveness than ask permission. Unless I have to use it, or asked if I'm armed in a friendly "I hope you are" kind of way, they will not know.

Not only that, but churches themselves are easy targets. Usually unlocked, things worth stealing laying around, lots of times when nobody is around, etc.
I can recall on instance off the top of my head where a disgruntled husband came to a church with the intention of killing his wife and MIL. Wife noticed something was wrong and convinced him to step outside and talk about it. He executed her and then turned the gun on himself.
Then all of the instances where a woman "lost her purse." Turned away and it disappeared... "lost," cause nobody would steal in a church right?
Too many people with the "God will keep evil away from here" attitude.
Although I guess i'd rather die at Church than anywhere else?
I'd rather be in a hospital than in Church, where someone could possibly do something about it.

Anyone remember the New life church shootings a few ago. If I wasn't a heathen I would.

I haven't found a church that I feel comfortable going to on a regular basis but as I'm looking, the churches feelings on concealed weapons is definitely on my list of things to check.
Don't we have a pistol packin preacher here? Yep..
I know several people who carry in church, and while I'm a godless heathen.. I suspect plenty of people who carry do attend, and seeing as how concealed is concealed..

I've ran into several people lately with the "but its Church... God will protect us" attitude. Want to see what y'all think and do.
I would carry in church, I don't go as often as I should. But when I do I wear
my tactical gear and lid in case the roof falls in.

In Northern Minnesota, most of the pastors carried. I don't see many people around here do it, but I get some bad looks if I do. From talking to people around here, most people have the attitude of "God is my gun and I don't need to protect myself".. I believe that God gives us the brain to defend His temple.. I will keep my 9mm by my side..
And my wife as well
I'm not much on religion, but the Lord helps those that help themselves. Those that expect someone else to protect and nurture them are called liberals.

When I go to church I carry. I don’t think anyone knows other than my little brother and maybe my grandparents. I have never asked for permission, but I was never told not to either.

That's the great thing about not asking permission--no one will ever tell you not to!

I know a person, who indicated that their church is heavily armed every sunday. They actually have a specific group of people armed, which changes each week. He indicated too that it was just not handguns. They also do drills and extensive training. Anyone that has served in the military or police are part of the "security team".
And I believe this person, not just a story.

Why? Not judging just curious. Credible threat?
Since I'm a godless heathen, not something I'll ever have to worry about. But if I did go, I'd carry.

"....and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." Luke 22:36
And on the 8th day God created The 45.

I know that FoF in the Springs has the same kinda deal also. I also met a TV Preacher that had a rather extensive security detail with him whenever he was out and about.

Again, Matthew J Murray ... shot and killed several people at a YWAM office up in Arvada and then tried to shoot up New Life church with an AR the next day and was interrupted by an armed security volunteer that broke his stride and caused him to eat his own pistol.
I guess I should be more obvious about the link; CLICK HERE=>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Colorado_YWAM_and_New_Life_shootings
Of course there's also this.

I believe they started protecting themselves because of these situations. It did sound pretty cool though, military operation and training it sounded like. The church is local to the metro area (south) somewhere. I didn't ask.

With our current POTENTIAL terrorist and numerous other type threats, any more than a hand full of folks getting together at a Church, theater or even a house party has their safety in jeopardy from terrorists or gangbangers. Hell, just watch the local news.......IMHO
We started a shooting group at church. About fifteen of us that get together once a month and go to a free site to shoot whatever we bring. Plenty of sharing and fellowship. A few of us carry everywhere. The pastors know who we are and they condone our group activities by allowing us to put notices on the website, church calendar and in the bulletin.
The church has movie nights, knitting groups, and a beer brewing group. Why would shooting be any different? [Coffee]
