Ok, technically yesterday.
I rarely read the paper. But I happened to do so while eating lunch and this was on the top right corner of the front page.

Well, Marvel comics were flushed a long time ago in my opinion anyway.
Heck, the last comic book I read was "Sgt Rock" so that should tel you something there. [Tooth]

Well, what do you expect? I've read the the people behind Marvel Comics are quite the lefties and this is what lefties do, kill off all our heroes and give us new PC heroes to create diversity, equality and fairness. Besides, when you consider that it seems that Marvel Comics is less of a comic book company and more of a movie idea machine, I'm sure all of this plays into their goal to have Hollywierd glob on to even more of their characters. Come on, make him white, make him black, make him hispanic, but mixed? That screams "Obama" and "diversity". I'm sure gay is next.
I hadn't noticed the Obama resemblance, but that really does look similar doesn't it?

I think it's a comic book. I also think this country is more culturally blended than it was 50 years ago. Marvel or whoever else is all about selling their comics. They throw shock value in Superman dying, super hero vs, superhero etc to sell more copies. This had it's intended consequence......we are talking about it on co-AR. This is better than they could have possibly hoped.

Actually Comics are worse than Hollywood and have been for a long time.
The Frankfurt School folk took over Marvel and DC (along with most if not all of the smaller studios) a LONG time ago and have been churning out Marxist Critique since before most of us here were born.

Why not create a new superhero with the PC qualities of Mr Gonzales, rather than kill off Mr Parker and replace him as Spidey? Im not a racist, not anti gay, but I continue to see small increments of this stuff being shoved down my throat. Its like standing under a helicopter and letting someone stack magazines under your feet until the obvious happens.
I'll admit. I've read a couple comics in my day. A lot of them Batman, Iron Man, Captain America have been replaced. This is not the first time.

I was a little sad about this until I read one of the original articles about it. Apparently, they are coming out with a new line of comics in an "alternative reality" and in this reality, Peter Parker is now an ethnic minority. The Amazing Spiderman and other Spiderman related comics will stay the same with Peter Parked being a skinny white kid.
About 20 years ago, Marvel tried to re-boot all their titles with a '2099' series. 'Spiderman 2099' was an interesting comic I collected and still have. It was the one title out of that series that survived for more than a year. Eventually, they gave up their attempt at this series and moved in other directions.
It's all about generating revenue. You all know that!

Did any of you read the article? This new Spider-Man is in the Ultimate Marvel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Marvel) universe where the original Peter Parker Spider-Man was killed in the June issue. In the Ultimate Marvel universe, characters can, and do, die.
As for the regular Marvel universe, Peter Parker is alive and well and still kicking ass as Spider-Man.
I remember a time when Nick Fury was white... and was played by Haselhoff! Not Samuel "I'm always yelling" Jackson. We're becoming so PC that it won't be correct to be white anymore. I swear, if they change batman to a black man I'm going to go crazy.

I don't vote for democrats regardless of their color." Someone said "It's called 'African-American.'" Same thing happened when I got mad at a bunch of Mexican's talking loudly in Spanish. "They're not Mexican! They're 'hispanic.'" PC is BS.

Wait a minute, I thought "Hispanic" was now no longer the correct term and is considered racist (since "spic" is a derivative of "Hispanic" ... and "Hispanic" refers to people from the isle of Hispaniola), I thought it was "Latino" now (as in "Latin American")?

I was reading an article about the Spawn remake that they want to do but they want it PG-13, and it sounds like Todd MacFarlane won't do it unless its R. If anybody ever read Spawn I was surprised they could sell it to a 14 year old kid...oh wait people had common sense back then and understood it was a comic book.

Oh I don't judge a person by their color/race/religion (Muslims excluded)/etc. but by the person they are and their actions once I meet and am exposed to them. I'm not PC either, I still use words like "Cripple" (when referring to generalizations, not individuals), "Midget" (such as "I'd like to get into the sport of midget tossing), "retard", "Commander on Crack" (when referring to Obama, used in place of Commander in Chief), and many more not too widely acceptable terms. None of these are directed at an individual or group (except Cdr on crack and retard- usually reserved for a more accurate description of a liberal or hippie, not a mentally challenged person) only used generally speaking ("don't ride without protective gear, you could end up a cripple," or "Pretty sure I'd bang a midget stripper, it could be fun!")

You'd be correct here. I've had to yell at people in my family for doing that before. When everyone in the group speaks English, and I don't speak Spanish, it's just God damn rude to use Spanish when there are only three of us.

If I was going to move to France, I would learn French and have my balls removed by a surgeon (or any number of exes that would do it for free) as I would be expected to adapt to their ways, not the other way around.

I would... If I moved to jolly old f***ing England because they have different parties and politics over there. Anywhere inside the USA can be considered free to vote however you want regardless of where you came from, so there is no relevancy there. Now, if you were to move here from Brazil and continue to speak Portuguese (technically Brazilian because it's a dialect) you're a f***ing asshole and you need to learn English or go back to where you came from. I'm pretty sure (like said before) I'd be one hated person if I moved to Russia and refused to speak or even learn Russian. Voting has not one thing to do with coming to America from a foreign country and refusing to speak the language.
