Pretty bad hail damage from the storm a couple weeks ago. Co worker in the same storm got almost 5 gir..
Anybody go though this?
Damn, my ins.co. sent an estimator to me. He cut me a check right on the spot.

I had SF do mine on Friday. Took almost an hour as there was a lot or damage. They came up with $10,481 in damage so they cut me a check for that less deductible.
Told me I can get it fixed where and a when I want and if there is more costs they will cover it.
All in all a pretty painless process. Hope yours is the same.

It's an Audi A8. Since the car is completely aluminum they have to replace most of the panels as they metal doesn't PDR as well as stamped steel.
It also killed all the Trim around the windows which is also Alum, and I know thats 1000 bucks a side to replace.
I'm willing to bet they are still a few grand short of the final cost.

They came back with 6100... But won't give me a check because it's financed through a credit union? Wtf Why?

At least a few grand...they usually are but thats how they do it.
This next statement is a general statement not directed at YOU directly. I'm sure you are gonna get you Audi fixed, and Prestige imports is one of the best around, let me know if you need some contact info for them.
The insurance company writes a check to a claimant for $5000, on a job that will really end up being $7k $8k $9k. 75% of people right now are not repairing there vehicles, they take that $5000 check and run with it. The claimant is "happy" and the insurance company is ecstatic that they dont have to pay out thousands more. Now for a company like State Farm that writes 3 million claims a year multiply that by $3k, well now you know why insurance companies have such good profits at the end of the year.
They are not new at this, they do it everyday all day. State farm is hands down the best insurance company out there for paying out on a claim, every other insurance company is far behind then, and some worse than others.

To ensure you get it fixed and dont just take the money and run then the Credit unions collateral isnt worth a shit

Because the CU owns the car. You can get it fixed or some company's will hold the $$$ until you pay it off.
Jordan Road CARSTAR is a fantastic body shop in Parker, I actually think it is Englewood. Jordan Road in between Arapahoe and 470

Yeah I know, but the cu had their own insurance to protect assests.. I pay for mine. Not to mention they are taking the risk on having to repo when the loan the money. Thats why credit matters. Thirdly, everyones cars are financed... And people are still getting checks cut..

That's interesting that they didn't cut a check due to a lien on the car. Mine if finance with Audi and SF didn't even bring that up.
Thanks for the tip about Prestige. I actually sold Audis at the other big store in town before moving up to Porsche this past winter.
I'm going to have Stuttgart do the work but they are currently several weeks out on starting new work.
In its current state it makes baby Jesus cry every time I look at it. Nothing like a big black car that looks like a golf ball to make you cringe.

You can get a check made out to you and the CU and then you can take that check and pay off your loan or pay it down if you want. I've been at this for over 30 years so it should work. That's how I paid off my wifes car (cept it was sand damage). Only bad thing is if you wreck your car later and haven't had it fixed they will not pay to replace those partsd again.

I'm wondering if they will be cool with me. I basically want to pay off a loanwith a higher % then my car. But both loans are with the same cu.... Hmmmmm

Can a car be totaled by hail?

If the damage is more than 75% of the worth of the car, sure it can total a car.
Most companies still use 75% I think?
Just got the estimate for my 2008 Ram 2500 POWER WAGON...... $10780. It will be in the shop next week. Second time in 8 months.
Just got off phone with cu.. They said I should have gotten a check..
They're wrong, you shouldn't have. Check should have both your name and the Credit Union's name on it.
Screw State Farm! Bull about them being there.
Home/auto with them for over 20 years. We had 1 ice dam and 1 hail storm claim within 2 years and they cancelled us. No other claims, no accidents. After they cancelled us they told us we shouldn't have put in for either claim...should just pay for it ourselves? Shouldn't put in for any claim less than $20k? We were amazed. Sure won't ever go back. USAA took us on right away, same price.
USAA will likely drop you just as fast. Every insurance company will drop you for filing a home owner's claim.

Can a car be totaled by hail?
Why wouldn't it if the damage is high enough?

I took my car in to progressive monday, $2700 in damage. But I cant afford my 1k deductable right now [Beer]
Well, it's not canceled, it is non-renewed. It would be illegal to cancel you.
It IS different for auto. I assume it has something to do with the the maximum value of a car vs the premium, and the maximum value of a house vs. the premium.
What your SF agent said about politicians is probably not wrong though. Politicians really screw up insurance. California and Montana are nightmares.
