Having just moved here from Florida I was very much looking forward to open carry. We are one of the hottest and most humid states in the 50 states and we cant open carry haha
I was wondering, because I live across the street from Denver county, if I need to be aware of any large places I can open carry or if its extremely frowned upon.
Im not interested in doing it everyday but would like to use my right to do so when I feel like it.
Any advice would be great! Thanks guys.

denver and boulder are nonos for open carry....elpaso county(co springs) is a ok as is anywhere out east.....opencarry.org is a good resource
Denver will give you some serious hassles. Mostly pro gun state with a mostly anti gun city, perplexing I know.

Ya that doesnt make any sense to me. How could it be such a gun friendly state and then so anti-gun in the cities? Where does that come from? lol
Maybe open carry in the Longmont area would be ok. I just want to be able to do it atleast once to feel like Ive flexed my rights!

Denver is a sanctuary city and the city officials want to protect those that are here illegally while the rest of us law abiding citizens have our rights hindered by those gun control freaks known as liberals.

You're not alone :). There is a lot of "debating" going on the board right now about this very topic.

Syntax error that lead to some fun... Riffles vs. rifles.
Riffles? lol
I made a typo a while back and was man enough to leave it in place and laugh at myself. I type at a fast rate, does not mean its perfect though. [Beer]

Ah, now I see where we really differ (besides political views): I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong.

Haha. Riffles. Thats what popped into my head but I thought maybe it was a person on the forum who got banned or something.
Oh well! Glad I now know the joke.
Now to find a place to open carry without being harassed or violating any laws.
Hmmmmmmmm
There was a guy carrying concealed in Ikea yesterday. It was like a big blinking sign on him too. A fanny pack on his side with a mag flashlight on his fanny pack belt. Might as well have been open carry.... lol

You are either man enough to leave it, slow enough to not make the change before it was quoted, lazy enough to not want to change it or ambivalent to it...
We can use man enough for now... [Beer]
I prefer to laugh at myself than get angry over little things. There are far too many other things in life that are truly bad. So save your anger or embarrassment for when it really counts.

Wow, you braved going to Ikea? I have a bit of morbid curiosity about the place, the wife wants to see it, but we agreed to wait at least 6 weeks.

I will let you know when the traffic dies down, I can see the blue palace from my office window.

First, I get part of the royalties.... A mans gotta get rich somehow...[ROFL1]
As to braving Ikea, I went there because I had to head to Micro Center. I went to Ikea and got some food. The foods cheap and not bad. Its different which i am always in the mood for new things. Its been years since I ate at one. Last time in DC when I was stationed there.
Traffic was not horrible, But I went there at 7 on a tues. Best time to. Not so crowded. I did make the mistake of going into the vortex of the store itself. Its laid out like a maze where you have to wander from one display to another. No way to cut past crap. I swear all I wanted was exit. If there is ever a fire, everyone is dead. There is no fast exit possible. It seemed like 4 miles of walking too. All that to get a stupid whisk for my girl.... sigh

I love the meatballs and Lingonberry Juice so it might be worth it, but it is a maze of doom for any mans wallet.

California.
Edit: But if you really care how it happened, read this

Personally not a fan of open carry. Colorado is not a difficult state to get a CCW permit, so I say wait & get the permit. Open carry causes a lot of alarm among the sheep and has a good probability of them calling LE and then causing you to get contacted.
Another school of thought I like...I don't care if the bad guy looks me up & down and "thinks" I may be armed, but I like the idea of not completely giving it away. What I mean is, most the time I wear 5:11 pants with my Glock polo shirt & contractor hat proudly bearing my American flag patch. It may suggest I could be armed, maybe - maybe not. But for me, I don't prefer the threat know I am armed until my rounds are headed his way. If they plainly see I am carrying a firearm (open carry), I become the first target. One of the first victims in the Utoya massacre (Norway) was an off-duty police officer working as security.
This has always been my position on this topic. Some agree, some don't. I know it's all a matter of preference, but there are still a lot of people here (Denver, Boulder) that get freaked out by seeing a gun on a non-unoformed hip. An example, I got a call at my full-time job today where a patron was concerned because they were riding a bus and heard a guy talking on his cell phone about purchasing a firearm and where would be a good place to go to get one. My first response, "Really?..". Regardless, this is just my 2 cents on the topic. Take care.

You can open carry without violating any laws, but don't count on not being harassed.

This! You can't argue with that logic... why stand out as a potential threat to a criminal when you can be the unassuming guy waiting for your moment to strike. A great white shark is so deadly because it uses ambush style tactics like coming up from underneath at break neck speed and catches them off guard. Sorry been watching a lot of shark week.

I plan on applying for my CCW soon as I make residency but Ive always wanted to open carry once, for the experience.
You guys bring up really good points though. Maybe I can do it on a day I go to the range or a park.
Also, how long do I have to be a resident before I can apply for my CCW in Colorado and how long do I have to be in Colorado before I can get my license here? The liquor store and cigar places seem to have a problem with my over 21 vertical drivers license.
What will I need to prove my residency? I was going to open a checking account at Chase, but my name is not on my girlfriends lease and I dont start work till the 11th.
Open carry can (and is) be banned at a city park. Be aware of that before you go out.
