So leaving work last night some drunk POS side swiped my car at alameda and morrison rd and kept going. I was gonna chase him down and throw him a beating but I was so tired I called DPD, they were to busy to get some one out for a while so I went down and filed a report at the precinct but was suprised when he said he couldnt find the license plate number in the system? I know the plates were probably expired, maybe stolen whatever but shouldnt they pull up something? Or did I just get smoke blown up my ass? I was in the right lane and he tried to pass me on the sidewalk but his suburban was to wide, luckily I seen him coming and swirved as much as I could or the damage would have been much worse. Worst part is I got off work at 2am, and had to be to work at my other job in Greeley at 7 am so the night was already short but then spending time waiting on a car the driving to the station I didnt get home till 4:30, got an hour of sleep and back at it.

Short story long I would have been better off throwing him a beating and taking the money out of his wallet! I havent even fixed the hail damage on my wifes car now I have door, fender and mirror damge [Rant1]

Depends on how long the plates have been unregistered (out of date). I gave my father-in-law a sailboat w/trailer that I wasn't going to be using as I was leaving the country for a while. This past week (13 years later...) he decides he needs to get rid of it. Well, the plate won't come up in the system as it's been too long since it was registered and that info gets kicked out of the system after a while.

Aurora PD told me the same thing a few years back when I was side swiped, I chased the guy down and he tried to wreck me.

I had all but the first digit of his plate, and they said there were no records.

I think that, truth be told, they are just too lazy to do anything about it.

For the most part the police are worthless ... their only value is that they prepare paperwork your insurance company will need.

Ya the detective called and said I am sol. Moral of the story your better off chasing them down and takeing what ever they have in their wallet because they probably don't have license, registration or insurance.
