Hi Folks,

I'm toying with the idea of selling my Centry FAL. It's an STG-58 kit on an Imbel PAC inch receiver. I also have several inch magazines that go with it.

I've been out of the FAL loop for about 5 years, but it seems like the Imbel receivers are "unobtainium" and desirable now.

Just wondering if any FAL experts on this board would know what it might be worth.

Thanks,
Steve

browse they classifieds to get a better idea of average cost. Forget gunchoker, most sellers are an easy $2-400. over reality. I haven't logged in there for years since i got out of the .30 cal scene.

This is one of those situations where the sum of the parts may exceed the whole. Last I knew an Imbel receiver was 4 bills plus and a parts set close to 4.
You will be hard pressed to pull 800.00 out of a Century rifle regardless of what receiver is on it.
Is this purely an Inch, Metric or hybrid reciever?

Thanks for the info. I believe you're right about the sum of the parts being more than the whole. I hear about $750 for an STG-58 kit and then $450 for Imbel receivers! I can't imagine it being worth that.

I believe it's purely an inch receiver with a Belgian barrel.

I posted over on the FAL forum with pics: http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=315340

Being one of them old Falfiles members... The good. It is a gear logo and for the Imbel kits that is what guys want. $400. The bad. It is a STG kit but the barrel has been cut and there are other details. $450 on the kit.

I would say throw it out there for $1000 if it is a shooter. As we all know Fal's are hit or miss and many I know would pay a good price for a good shooter. Out of the 25 or so that I have built 10 were very good shooters and a few even though they had the best of parts and fitting were dogs.

My PSA for anyone that owns one. If it shoots good do not mess with the bolt/carrier/receiver/barrel. You can take a nice 2moa gun and turn it into a 5 moa gun in a heartbeat.[Coffee]

Hey Jerry,

I was hoping you would stop by. We shot together a few times out at BCGC a few years ago. I think I showed this rifle to you.

It is a shooter -- Right at about 2 MOA. Barrel is nearly new and the rifle runs great.

It is a bummer about the cut barrel. I appreciate your expert opinion!

Is the FAL marked Century for sure? The unassembled PAC STG 58 kits have been selling for 750 plus on gunbroker auctions when they appear. Of course the Imbel receiver adds more. What is the barrel manufacture? I pay close attention to the IMBEL related auctions, if you have Austrian barrel that will help.

Hi Battle_Site ...

Been traveling, so just now getting caught up on some of the responses to this thread.

It is a Century assembled rifle, marked "Assembled by CAI" above the PAC2575 SN.

The barrel is Belgian marked KaL.762 m/m with proof marks.

I've included some of the pics I posted over on FALFiles.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Nice one. Just because the kits sell for 750 and the receivers for 450 doesn't make it a 1150 rifle. If that's the case someone would just go buy a DSA Imbel and be done with it. Usually see century rifles on Imbel receivers go for about 750-950 depending on whats on it.

that's a metric gun, perhaps they had an inch magazine, however that appears to be all metric. the inch pattern fn's have a different pistol grip, buttstock, sights and charging handle. The PAC IIRC is Pacific Armament Corp. those gear logo receivers are an easy $400. IMHO you have a $6-800 rifle depending on market prices. Unfortunately between here and a few other boards i see more for sale than SOLD guns.

I just run a search on Gunbroker running IMBEL. Couple of them are under bid right now, one with 3 days to go at 700ish. With the way things are on these boards I would say you may be better off putting it on Gunbroker and seeing what happens. I paid 800 for a consignment CIA IMBEL at Green Mountain Guns in April, but that one had been rebuilt in key areas. I have seen some CIA Imbels move at a $1000 in the past but you never know but it dont cost anything for you try

Thought better about my reply. Must maintain that high road that comes with being a MOD. So price this Fal. It is built on a bunch of crap. http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac44/jerrymrc/toys/762Custom2.jpg

Thanks for all the advice folks. I think you're right ... might have to put it on Gunbroker and see what the market will bear.

Nice rifle Jerry. Is that your 7.62 x 25? I remember that one at the range. Fun gun.
