The drug house literally across the street from me. I think the cops have been there about 6 times and arrested people at the house. On some weekends it looks like a scene from a History Channel episode about Mexican gangs.
This happened on Saturday night. Around 2300 there must have been 10-15 gang banger looking people in the front yard and the street making all kinds of noise. I did my duty as a good citizen and called the Sheriff's office with a noise complaint. They must have been super busy that night because after about 20 minutes the party escalated into a fight in the yard and into another about 10 minutes after that. All this time, there was screaming and cussing and bottles breaking. I called back to let them know that it was escalating. After the 2nd fight, the party broke-up and they all took off for who knows where - all the while screaming let's get out of here before the cops come. The cops did show up but the homeowners refused to open their door for them.
I didn't go outside to tell them to keep it down because that would have only caused an altercation in which I would have been greatly outnumber. Not outgunned (maybe) but certainly outnumbered. It really pisses me off that we have this one house on the block that causes these problems. I called the Sheriff's desk and not 911 because I didn't deem it an emergency - at least not until the fighting.
Do you think next time I should just call 911??

Ya, that is what I was thinking. It was out of control when I was in Afghanistan. I guess one day the cops showed up when my wife and kids were outside and they had to hog tie one guy and drag him out of the house.
Is the house a rental? If so I'd be calling the owner and complaining to them about all the drugs and potential danger their tenants are causing to the neighborhood!! And yes call 911 next time that shit happens!!!

We had some people move in down the street from my house in vegas like that. Its not hard to get rid of the chicken shits once the neighborhood is tired of them. We did everything legal I even called the cops on them and ID'd them in front of all them a couple times, the vegas cop told them a was a ccw holder and next time I would call 911 after it was done. A couple days later they moved. Just takes a little pressure.

short answer yes ish . when calling the cops on a neighbor make sure they dont pay you a visit at the same time . yes they will sometimes come to your house to let you know that they stoped by and talked to your neighbors . the best thing to do is ignore them (the gangsters ) , stay off there radar as much as possible and let the cops handle it . been down that road before and you really cant win a fight against knuckle heads .remember the law is on there side too and in some cases more them than yours .good luck .
yes just call 911.
Apparently my neighborhood had a house like that a year or so before we built our house. Meth problems and druggies in and out, but they got evicted and the house sat empty for a couple years until recently and the neighbors haven't been a problem for us.
every neighborhood has them, it just depends on how vocal they get and how stupid they are.
Someone could, say, accidentally fire a couple of rounds into the ground in their(own) back yard, and then you could call in "shots fired" to 911....jus' sayin'...

While 20 Mexican gangbangers are standing on their front lawn staring and pointing at you.
You do not have a lot of legal options here. Arson is a non-option -- that is an extremely serious charge and you do not want to go there.
Make sure your doors and windows are always locked, and sandbag the wall facing their yard.

....and keep your firearms inside your house and dig them out only if someone is trying to break in otherwise, you could be the one going off to jail. Remember, you have a lot more to lose than those scum bags across the street.

Ya, that is kind of my point. I am not the only in the neighborhood but I don't want them to know that I called the cops either.
Funny thing is that one of my old battalion commanders got into a shoot-out with some gang bangers years ago up in Washington State. It didn't end well for the bangers as two were left dead. [UZI]

If you call the cops from your home phone they are going to come talk to you are they not? I do not know since I have not been in this situation before. If they come talk to you then the thugs will know they did. So don't let the cops know who called.

You can make it anonymous and ask that the police do not come to your house. Unfortunately, I have some experience with this.

That would be my concern. Them knocking on my door stating really loudly "Thank you Mr. Airborneranger for calling us and letting us know about these thugs across the street. We have now taken care of the problem and will be leaving to not patrol the area for a day or two. Take care". Nothing like painting a target on your house and personal property. If you can avoid that, then next time they get rowdy I would just make the call.

I would be one to think Cops are a little smarter. I've called in REDDI reports before and left my name and number, and never gotten contacted by the PD. One would hope that they wouldn't give you a visit when the thugs can clearly see. Now if they went to like 4 other houses in the neighborhood to get statements or complaints from others, then it would be tough for the thugs to figure out who called 5-0. I like to think cops wouldn't come to you while the thugs are watching, that would just further exacerbate the situation and cause you to become a victim.

I'm thinking this would be a good idea.
Shoot lots of photos of the goings on across the street (maybe you'll catch something the police will care about).
I'd also consider setting up some well hidden "Game Cameras" to document any nocturnal encroachments on your territory.
Believe me, even if the cops just decided to crack down on these guys all on their own, they're going to think their neighbors snitched on them so I'd keep my eyes open.

This is what got my old boss in trouble. They used the video to put some guys behind bars and their buds decided to do some driveby's on the house. Like I said, it ended poorly when the rest of the platoon showed up with their weapons and dealt the bangers a beating [M2]

In situations like this, the officer will usually finish the call with asking the dispatcher if the 'RP' (Reporting Party) wants contact and if the answer is no, then that's it. If the 'RP' wants contact, then the officer will either stop by or call them, depending upon what the 'RP' told the dispatcher.
Airborne, you can get ahold of your county assessor's office (usually online) and do a property search to find the actual owner of the residence. If the address listed is not the actual address of the property, it is an indication of a rental and you have the owner's information. Contact them and tell them what is going on with their property. They may be concerned enough to evict the tenets of a violation of their lease, if there are issues.
Too bad you can't call in a lightning strike. A nice gas leak would be nice too.

I can think of several ways- technically legal- to rid yourself of bad neighbors (one involves a lot of fish in very hard to spot and hard to reach places like the roof or into the chimney (hope they have a plug)). But I will refrain from giving out any real ideas for fear I could be prosecuted if these ideas actually are used and I would be liable... but on the other hand, how liable is google if you search for "How to get rid of bad neighbors"...

I had a similar issue when I lived in Garden Grove, CA. Had a dealer that lived right next door and we did not get along at all. The cross street at the end of my block was the dividing line between the 5th street and 17th street gangs, both Hispanic. Two blocks west was the line for a Vietnamese gang. I talked to my Hispanic neighbors that had kids and they agreed that the situation was bad but did not dare say anything out of fear. The police patrols in the area were pretty heavy and I spoke to them frequently. They said they could not do anything unless a crime reported and witnessed with proof of the crime. These bangers are not dumb and hide what they do pretty well.
I started out by confronting the "visitors" to the 'hood. They usually drive POS cars and they are basically rolling violations. Every time one drove too fast I got in his face and told them to slow down as there are kids on this street and if they kept it up I would tell the police. I made a point of writing down or taking a Polaroid of every car and visitor that stopped by. When ever a good neighbor saw me doing my business they would call the police and say that there was a crazy driver causing problems. The police would stop the offender within a block or two and issue citations, impound vehicles and sometimes make arrests for warrants. Eventually my neighbor threatened me. I immediately called the police and told them that my neighbor made a threat of violence and brandished a gun. They were there in less than a minute. They arrested him and he did 90 days. The other house guests moved out that evening. Never saw them again.
The downside was someone painted a gang drug house identifier on the curb in front of my house so I had some bangers knocking on my door in the middle of the night. I would call the police and provide a description of their car and pretty quickly they stopped coming around. For a "gang" this is a business and they would rather move to a new location than deal with legal hassles.
With parties and fights, as soon as the party gets loud and moves to the front yard, call the police. Enlist your neighbors to start calling as soon as it starts to get annoying. Eventually the police will get tired of your calls and do something about it, especially if the good guys in the neighborhood call too. Keep the pressure up on the bad guys and the police and the problem will go away. Ignore it and it will get worse. Don't give in to fear, exercise intelligent caution, call the police anytime it gets annoying.
It worked for me.

For 20 years, the official version of the shootout held that no one was hurt in the gunfire. Not true, according to Foulk. During the firefight, one gangster rushed toward Foulk's house.
"I guess he thought he was gonna John Wayne it,"Foulk remembered.
One of the Rangers took aim and winged the gangster in the shoulder. The attacker staggered back and ran away. The moment goes unmentioned in police reports and witness accounts of the time. Unverified gossip holds that the wounded man was treated at a Seattle-area hospital.
I guess he wasn't embellishing..
Yes, call 911 when there are fights. I called 911 for a girl fight once. 6 people showed up in a stolen car, and all of them were arrested. 6 cops showed up in no time and got everyone.

when Foulk finally ventured out a table of off duty police told the bartender that his money was no good there.
now that is awesome
Just go to walmart and buy a prepaid phone with cash and the minutes, then use it to keep calling the cops on the guys.
You don't need to go through any hassle about the cops identifying you. Just say "I'd like to remain anonymous" when they ask for your name. Simple as that.
