Same. Just had to do a claim for hail damage, and they took pretty good care of me.

Auto insurance, or any insurance for that matter, is a pain in the ass. We have country insurance on our home and autos and they treat us well as far as insurance companies go.
We've never had an auto claim with them. But they didn't hesitate to write us a check for $14k for a new roof...and they paid the $1k deductible because I bitched a little.

Year after year only 2 insurance companies come in for higher than a failing grade in customer service in various surveys, especially when processing a claim. Every thing else is an anecdote.. USAA and Amica. USAA if you're former military, Amica for anything else.
I second the vote for Amica. I switched from Geico after only having one minor claim (comprehensive - deer). They offered me higher coverage at about half of what I was paying at Geico. When the Geico rep called to see why I switched I told him my new coverage & what I was paying and he told me he couldn't even get close. Amica has also provided great service. My house-sitter, a "friend", got drunk & had an accident in one of my vehicles while I was on vacation. He caused property damage & abandoned the vehicle. Amica arranged to have the vehicle transported to a shop & started work before I even got back into town. They also didn't raise my rates. It's an added bonus that a lot of the people you'll talk to in their claims & customer service are in Colorado.

USAA. Fo sho.
I've had good success with Travelers. 2 different claims and they paid fast with no hassels
Home and Auto with USAA
If you can go with USAA, I highly recommend them.
YMMV
USAA is a great insurance company, good rates and great service.

That's interesting that they let you breach your contract so easily. I wonder what their deal is.

That's because they legally can not raise your rates in the situation that you described.

Ditto. Got my life insurance though them, too.

The "deal" was I asked the adjuster to waive the deductible or he could also put a new roof (hail damage...just like the house) on the barn to the tune of another $10k. It's a steel roof and had a few tiny little dents so I really wasn't interested in replacing it.
He said he'd be happy to waive the deductible.

USAA just quoted me a premium that is more than twice the premium amount that Country charges. Not an anecdote...just a fact.

There are certain eligibility requirements, but you don't necessarily have to be military. I'm sure their website will tell you if you can join or not.
And yeah, that quote sounds a little pricey.

Remember that Progressive is named for the political views of the ownership. Actually true. If you want your insurance pymts going to Libtards, go Progressive! I would rather not. My insurance is thru Allstate. I just love that Mayhem dude. Those commercials are hilarious. He's got a great gig. Shaky, shaky- shaky, shaky, shaky!
Used to have Hartford, until a few years ago they wanted to up my monthly bill by more than 50%. I dumped them. Moved to Progressive, and I pay about 75% of my original Hartford bill now for twice the coverage.

I went with GMAC. Truck has OnStar & LoJack and GMAC gave me a huge discount, if I keep the miles low. Good discount for other truck and home owners policy, because of "loyalty". They beat everybody else by $800 a year, but they do know how many miles I put on the truck every year and I bet they can check its location anytime they want, unless I pull the fuse on the OnStar....hehe

Everyone is going to get different rates from the same insurance companies, for a laundry list of reasons.
I'm on USAA, and so far NOBODY has been able to match their rates, but that may be due to the specific cars we drive, the legacy discount because I'm the third generation in my family to be on USAA, where we live, our age... whatever. It's best to get quotes from several companies and go from there. You may get the lowest and best price from a company that would charge the rest of us an outlandish amount.
But as far as every time I've dealt with USAA, it's always been quick and relatively painless. They ARE in the business of making money, like everyone else, so sometimes you have to push a little on certain issues, but that's just how it is.

This makes perfect sense.

Might be a little high, how old are you and how's your credit? I pay $158 a month for $100k/$300k, and I'm with a high risk branch of a major company.

+100 here

Im going to throw out State Farm, not really because of the company but because of my agent. I've been with them for 9 years or so and they have always been helpfull. There was a time I was swtiching cars every 6 months and they knew right when to call and update my information.
I've only needed them twice, once when I tagged the bag of some ladies Prius and she was being a bitch about it, and most recently with the hail storm on my car. They have checked in twice to make sure everything was handled the way it should be.
I'm not going to plug them openly since I don't want to come across as a shill, but if anyone wants their contact infor feel free to PM me.
A good agent can really help people manage their insurance rates. Agent can get you discounts on rates. Fat chance getting a discount from a website.
travelers for my 94 4Runner and my wifes 2011 forester, they won't insure my 66 Impala so i went with Hagerty.
Truck and Forester - $144/month full coverage on forester
Imapla - $242/year
all $500 deductable 100/300/100 Impala has $25,000 value guarantee

+1 We have had Henry Ham ins agency fro 25 years family owned and operated fro decades they are located in englewood 303-744-1341. The sold me a MetLife umbrella pak years ago.
between a tornado and another claim their handling of them was above board with a local ins adj in direct contact with us.I called HH on the way home from work after the tornado hit windsor, they had an adjuster at the house 2 hours after my calling them. All this service and we haven't lived in the metro area for 16 years. They as do all Ins agencys deal with different ins co's. and will try and get you the best price and coverage.
Tell them Jim sent you.
I just changed my insurance from Liberty Mutual to Met Life after 25 years
I changed
3 cars
1 motorcycle
home
and $1mm umbrella police
and saved over $1000 a year with better coverage
Very happy with the agent too, I can give you her name if interested
Shameless plug- PM me, I'm an insurance agent and I can run your stuff through several companies we represent and find out a good price, but also won't burn you with less than adequate coverage.

USAA for me. Nobody out there can beat their rates for the coverage I have. I always laugh when I get unsolicited mail from other insurance companies trying to get me to switch. I call them up and ask if they can beat USAA on rates, 100% answer no. I laugh and hang up. :D

I have Progressive. It offers me the highest coverage with the lowest deducible at the best price. I’ve never had to use them, but when I started shopping around for new insurance they matched the lowest price I got from esurance.

We've had American Family for our house and cars for years now. They've always come thru when we needed them.
