No handguns on the USPS. Fed Ex will only ship over night. UPS is fine with declaration when shipping to factory for warrantee work. I just sent one to CZ for some upgrades. This is what I learned in the process.

UPS or Fed Ex only.
they almost always require 2nd day air. (the factory thing mentioned above may be true, ask, I haven't had to use it)
Has to go to an FFL. (they just ask if it's an FFL, they don't ask for proof)
You have to go to a hub. You can't go to a store, they won't do it.
their website will tell you their hub's.
About $50

The good thing is the girls at the UPS Colorado Springs hub are very good with firearms and ammo.

Maybe it's only because they are a retailer but when I bought my Sig from Buds they sent it in a USPS flat rate priority box to my FFL.

FFL to FFL can go USPS,
but not private to FFL
Long guns can go private to FFL via USPS

I shipped a Glock UPS with insurance and it cost almost $75, shipped one through and FFL and it cost me $20 transfer fee and $12 to ship Priority. Plus the UPS hub is only open to the public like 1 hour a day monday through friday.
