Anyone know if there is a market for titanium? With gold out of site per ounce, and me not having any it got me thinking. A few years ago I broke a titanium rod in my back. They ended up going in and replacing everything from my ass to my neck. This time with some kind of special stainless steel. What was taken out they let me keep. It is all titanium, There are 2 rods about 18" long and about 40 screws and other hardware which are also titanium. I have been searching Google for days now and I just dont understand all the charts and price structures that are shown for the different metals. I know better than to go to one of the "We buy gold" shops because I don't know anything about prices. It may be worth didley but it also could be worth the price of a new gun too. Anyone know where I should start or how to go about finding what and if it is worth anything? [Help]

depending on who quotes you, medical grade TI i believe rates differently than "unfit for human consumption" Ti does.

Holy crap man, that's awesome/crazy. Like fucking Wolverine with half a skelton of Adamantium. Bet the reality of it sucked though.

As the previous poster mentioned it'd be an alloy of some kind, but still valuable. I'd google for specialty metal recyclers.

Ok, I will ask the question. How the hell did you brake a Titanium rod?

Its probably Ti 6Al-4V. But you will probably have to get it tested to really know. I have no idea if it's worth anything after being formed into what was put in your body. It might not be reusable, but I suspect it can be if it's ti6-4.

Damn dude, I hope the VA gave you 100% on separation. Those are some crazy x-rays and a hell of a lot of sacrifice on your part.

It just has Ti and a s/n on the head of each screw.

It can't be worth too much since it breaks so easy!

Just kidding - I hope the replacement gives you no trouble at all.

I paid 85 thousand dollars for the titanium bracket and six screws in my upper back.

Damn dude, that's pretty crazy.

Not that this will really help, but my wedding ring is made of titanium and cost about $50. How many wedding rings worth of metal do you have? Then multiply by 50. There's your answer. [Beer]

OMG, your x-rays and mine are almost identical. Just 33 screws in mine though. I'm pi$$ed, as when they re-did mine in April I didn't get the old titanium. I'm still titanium. Damn kids find out what titanium brings and they'll be trying to melt me down.

We would NEVER do that. But where do you live just in case? [Tooth]
