I've owned and been shooting 1911's for over 50 years. Admittedly my attitude has always been if it isn't a 45ACP it's not a 1911. That all changed two weeks ago when I got a Kimber in 10mm.
I've taken it to the range twice now and have about 300 rds. through it. Having an absolute ball. Been busy loading for it with everything from "wussie" loads to full power.
FANTASTIC!
glad you are enjoying! have you found a favorite full power load yet?

Ditto on the Colt. My Stainless Gold Cup Delta is by far my favorite 1911. Haven't tried one of the Kimbers yet.

Glad you're enjoying the 10. It's a fun and versatile cartridge.
The 10mm adds a whole new interesting dimension to the 1911.

I have 10mm Delta, but I prefer the Glock 20
The 10mm was designed from the ground up as a man stopper out performing the 45AcP.
Either platform is a plate full for any bad guy to contend with.
Most production ammo is expensive and very neutered version of the original 10mm loadings.
Double Tap gets my vote for best production full house loads.
BTW the 10mm full house loads in a carbine are close to or exceeds the energy of a 44 magnum with the ability of rapid fire and high capacity as well as a higher velocity making it an excellent CQB choice in either the H&K MP5/10 or AR-15 pistol cal conversion like the Olympic K10
When reloading 10mm it is no more expensive than 9mm or 40s&w to load. The hard part is buying the original ammo or brass. Also, 10mm brass has been available in either large or small pistol primer versions.
Starline brass is $85 per 500 shipped. So it's not to bad. http://www.starlinebrass.com/index.php?cPath=1&osCsid=7aa2ef29240108e5ccf56bb0d791dcc0

I bought 1000 pcs. of Starline. They run out from time-to-time so I thought it would be a godd idea to put a little extra on the shelf.
Continuing to enjoy the Kimber. Like said in another post, it really adds a new dimension to the 1911!
