View Full Version : Elway's does it yet again!
Saturday marked my grandparents 58th Wedding Anniversary, so as is our family tradition for every big day (birthdays, father's/mother's day/anniversaries/etc.) we went out to eat. Restaurant of choice: Elway's... let me just say, every time we go there the food is amazing! Pricey, but being perhaps the best eatery in Denver (not just my opinion) its well worth it! I ordered their 14oz Prime Rib and was blown away, as usual. If you haven't been, you really should. A two person dinner will run in the $100+ range, but it's owned by Denver's favorite player, has one of the most reputable staff of chefs in town, and you can always catch a glimpse of some nice cars outside- this time I spotted a Porsche Panmera, Ferrari 599, and a Lamborghini Gallardo.
Just a little friendly eatery advice for you lovable public!
Sounds nice but I perfer not to spend that kinda dough on a meal, plus I'm not a huge fan of hanging out with super wealthy people...their attitudes can suck big time!!

I think it is nice now and then to drop $75-100 on a meal. We rarely eat out at all. I remember spending $125 on a meal in the 70's at the Space Needle.
Since eating out is a 3-4 times a year thing I want the food to be exceptional.

Well Jerry, I'll say that if you eat out that rarely a year and you want great food, Elway's sits at the top of my list, although there are a few other places I'd stay away from some of the nicer ones if you don't want that "rehearsed" corporate feel.

Just not for me. I'd rather spend 50 bucks at Chilis with the whole damn family and still have 50 bucks to go to Walmart Sporting goods.
If I want a really good steak, I cook it myself!
I have never overpaid for a great steak no matter what the cost. I have however thrown away more money on cheap steaks than I've ever spent on good steaks. I'd trade 10 dinners at a chain restaurant for one exceptional steak dinner.

I agree with this ... except that the exceptional steak dinner is more likely to happen in my back yard than most restaurants (that said, Elway's is a good place to go out for a steak).
My main problem is that my favorite slab of meat is a juicy prime rib- since I'm not going to spend the money or time cooking one myself I have to indulge whenever I go out to a real good place- and found that Elway's has my favorite, then it's Black Hat Cattle Co. in Kittridge, and can't say I hate the Texas Roadhouse one either... that's my issue.
As far as the attitude of the insanely rich, I don't mind, I just slyly throw in "don't get caught in a rain storm... you'll drown." [LOL]
I'd love to marry into a lot of money, it'd be like the Colorado version of the Guist brothers strike it big! (Referring to the Guists in Swamp People) "Hey baby, I'm gonna go buy an Aston Martin Today, I think I'll call her "Wednesday Car #2"...

That is a true statement. I don't like to spend a lot of $$ on going out to eat. A family of four costs enough!

This. I like to go to the one in Monument.

This! Probably the best "mainstream" steak and ribs out there.
That's said I love me a trip to Elways every now and then. Although avoid the Downtown one, twice I've been there and the service has sucked. Everytime we go to Cherry Creek it's a good time.
Everytime we eat an elk steak I know I spent over 300+ bucks for the pleasure.

The one on 8th street in the Springs is extremely hit and miss ... sometimes you get a great steak, great service and have a great time ... other times you'll leave wanting to bar the door and burn the place to the ground.
