Lets talk windows

I need to invest in some windows and glass sliding door for my house. While the ones I have will block a stiff breeze they leak heat and cold and a surprising rate.

I have of course heard the Graaaaaaavinus commercials but wanted to know if ya'll had any experience with local windows. I think I read somewhere that due to the altitude double pain windows had to be constructed at this altitude.

Very true. We do glass replacement and they pop like balloons in our lower pressures. I've seen it more then once. Some good brands out there are Marvin and Milgard. These are the ones I would put my house. Smaller manufactures come and go and parts and warranties are gone once the manufactures are gone.

We had our whole house redone with Pella windows and doors from Lowes. Great stuff but not cheap. I wouldn't go straight to Pella though, they were like 10 times higher. We did get lucky at Lowes though, and caught a sale on $99 installation per window. We got the windows with unfinished wood frames inside, then stained and cleared them. Looks great.
