Ok, so, we just had an earthquake here in Trinidad. [Beer] Did anyone else in the neighboring area feel it? All of my neighbors went outside to find out what happened. That was kinda weird, first one I have ever felt.

Play on-

BOT- want to see something scary? Look at a USGS fault map of Colorado, it looks like a broken windshield. Unbelievable amount of faults run through our state, something on the order of 10,000 IIRC. One of the geologists at work said one of the most capable of serious damage and overdue to move is the Dakota fault. You know, the same one that makes up Dakota Ridge- the hogback just west of Denver.
Nice

So in otherwords, there's still hope for the Denver area? [Tooth]

I've been through a lot of quakes, being from Alaska. It's a strange feeling sleeping on the ground in a tent and It sounds like a frieght train from under water.

Sorry for the derail, on with the banter...

Every time I look at our mountains I wonder about the seismic forces that made 'em heave up in the first place. Especially the Front Range. I sure don't want to be around for the next time!

Yeah, we also are in Trinidad and the wife felt it too. Apparently I was happily dozing in my recliner about three feet from the Mrs., and did not feel even one tiny tremor.
I attempted to make this post around 6:30 this evening but the internet was down and out here in Trinidad.

Well damnit, there was another one just a few minutes ago. My fan that I have perched above my bed (plastic little white one) shook enough to fall on my head and wake me. [Rant1] I figured out what makes them especially bad in this fucking house... All of the panneling is slightly loose so when it shakes, it sounds like someone is hitting the fucking walls all around you. [Mad] Ok, time to calm down the kids and go back to bed now...

About 10 minutes ago (~1155) something sorta shook me house (not bad, but I'm by the front window and it rattled enough to scare my cat [and me]...I went outside to see who was screwing with my house).

08-23-2011, 00:09
Well at least you felt it. The first time today when it happened I thought someone was backing a big truck into the side of my house. I didn't think for a second that it was something natural like that. I grabbed my 1911 and headed for the door. I put it down as soon as I saw the other neighbors standing out in the street wondering what the hell was going on also. Damn ginsue, I thought you would have given me a little warning about shit like this happening here![Beer][ROFL1]

Revelation 6:14 (NIV)
The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

Revelation 16:20 (New Living Translation)
And every island disappeared, and all the mountains were leveled.

I guess from what I have been reading, it was the third one in the last 24 hours and the worst at a 5.5. The first one was a 2.9 just before 8 in the morning (which we didn't feel), the second at 5:30 was a 4.6 which we did feel, and of course the one that dropped the damn fan on my head was a 5.5. What the friggen hell?

I've lived here since '95 (with a 2.5 yr incarcerated in MA - okay, I was stationed there with the USAF, but it was against my will) and this is the first time I've ever noticed it.

I honestly thought someone was standing on the plant box outside my front window peaking in and fell into the window. Of course, none of my neighbors came to check things out. While I didn't exit the house with a gun, I did have my 120 lumen SureFire to check things out (last time I went outside with a flashlight and an ASP I was almost arrested for "felony menacing with a firearm".... notice how I never mentioned me having a firearm with me in that case? Because I DIDN'T!). Of course, I have a .45 just inside the door!

Ok, time to calm down the kids and go back to bed now...

An earthquake strikes in your area. Quick, what do you do?

A) Go back to bed

B) Make sure your family is OK

C) Post a rant on CO AR-15 Forum about how the quake knocked your fan from its perch which subsequently hit your head, make sure your family is ok, and then go back to bed.

And the correct answer is....

[Abused]

It's a good thing you are only talking about the second quake and the possible answers and not the first also...

D) Grab a gun and ready yourself for a confrontation with whatever is outside your house trying to shake it to its foundation while your family is in it (not knowing it's an earthquake).

About 2:00PM yesterday I got a weird nausea and pressure in my head, out of nowhere. I hadn't ever felt anything like it before. I could function 100% but I just didn't feel right. Little bit dizzy. I had it all night.

Woke up this morning and it was gone. Now I'm wondering if I have some sort of built in early warning system.
