So we took the MIL to the airport this evening (she'd flown out to visit a few days).

We stood by security and watched her as she went through all the indignities ... keeping in mind that the TSA folk at Colorado Springs airport are probably nicer and more professional than average, I was still struck by the feeling that we're not Americans at the airport anymore, we're Soviets (or citizens of Oceania for that matter).

Last Friday morning, after a week of visiting with us, we took our daughter and her son to the Springs air terminal for their return home to Naperville, IL.
She was extremely impressed with the relaxed atmosphere of the Springs air terminal and the friendly handling of the TSA people especially since she had to use O'Hare to get out here.

I'm halfway through 1984 right now, and all the references to that book that I've read over the years keep rushing into my memory. Interesting book.

I've been planning a trip, and every part of it plans with dealing with Security or the airline in some way...either no carry-on, or stuff everything I need in a back pack and deal with TSA to avoid the bag check cost...
