View Full Version : US becoming a food stamp nation

46 million US on food stamps...nearly 15% (74% increase since 2007)
cost $68 billion in 2010.
I wonder how many of those 46 million people have a high tech cell phone, or a cell phone at all, or any of the other luxuries people call necessities.
I'm sorry but you don't need to have a damn cell phone if you can't afford to feed your child. Priorities in peoples lives need to change.

It's sickening when I visit family in California. When waiting in the grocery line, I'm the only one paying. Everyone else is using food stamps. And they don't look poor. You should hear the conversations. I remember one "I canst work cus of the A.D.D..." [Rant1]

You can almost hear the US Government sucking the pride right out of Americans! We have become a dependent nation and losing the prideful nation title!
Can't be on the tit of the government your whole life and the system shouldn't be set up to encourage dependency.
Yo Homey, wtf ya means,,, I needs my cell, ipod, blackberry.
I gots to stay in touch with my peeps and we has to play games whilst we is waiting on the first of da month mail.
And mybe da govment outa give us FREE cell phones, cause food stamps and welfare checks just don't go too far.

All the advertising of government handouts in the mass media really bugs me. There are times when I listen to the radio that is seems like half of the advertising is for an agency giving something to somebody who hasn't paid for it. Why is there a program if there isn't enough demand that they have to beg for patrons?
The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so. -Ronald Reagan
On of my favorite Reagan quotes!

just like any other tax payer sponsored program. you have to prove you need as much or more money the next year so they are extremely wasteful so they can get a better budget the next year.

Drive through montbello, u see escapades, tahoes and the like all rimmed up and flashy. Guess if you don't have a job you don't need to worry about gas mileage.

for great gas mileage all you need is a hose and a woman that can suck good

Overheard coming from the woman, who clearly doesn't look like she's starving, and talking on her White iPhone.
"I just trying to find out when that payment is going to post to my EBT card? It's the first day of school and I need to buy lunches for for kids"
First off you and I both know her ass is on the free lunch program which just means half of every dollar I pay for my kid is going to hers. Second off if you can afford to be carring a white iPhone then get you damn fat ass off food stamps and prioritize what you spend your money on.

And people wonder why I like my dogs so much...
Dogs are the worst!
funny email:
>> My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.
>>
>> He has his food prepared for him. He can eat whenever he wants, 24/7/365.
>>
>> His meals are provided at no cost to him....
>>
>> He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup, and again during the year
>> if any medical needs arise.
>>
>> For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.
>>
>> He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he

>> someone else cleans it up.

>> He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.

>> He receives these accommodations absolutely free.

>> He is living like a King, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure Carl posted that up a while back. Still flippin' funny!!!
I went to mcdonalds today for a nice big sweet tea and heard this woman bitching over the fact that they won't take her food stamps... I wish I could have just slapped the bitch...[Stooge]

And since we are on topic...
After picking up lil Rooski at school we go to King Soopers. I've got a cart full of stuff, $200 tab, for my large monthly shopping trip.
I get stuck behind the woman in checkout who also has a somewhat large cart of stuff. But I have to wait for her to seperate the items from the basket she is using Food stamps for from the other crap she is paying for out of pocket.
I swear I wanted to just kick someone.
Ok. End Rant. Happy thoughts.

Yeah...but if it makes you guys feel any better just remember...
These people probably aren't paying any taxes, either. Now doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy?
CO is one of the strictest (or long process) state to issue food stamp.
I think CA is least.
DANGERTASTIC!

My girlfriend and I arent married yet, She has an 8 year old that I took on, they send her stuff all the time on how she qualifies for food stamps...we dont take it.
Between her job and mine we do just fine, money is tight sometimes and it would be nice in the middle of the month, but its a pride thing.
I wish I could say there is other people out there that would do the same. I hope there is anyway. Seems everyone wants something for free nowadays

I think it would make a big difference if we started what Fla just did....Drug screening for people on welfare/food stamps or any kind of government handouts.
Florida became the first state to do this, I think in june or july? Anyway, I just seen something the other day on how only 2 people tested positive for drugs. Now they need to test everyone instead of hand picking them

My wife has stories like that all the time. I get really pissed that hospitals have to care for those scumbags.
I work for tmobile and people spend so much money on phones. And I'm talking about 17 to 20 yo that that have children bad credit and spend 500 on phones
I'm a photographer and deal with models regularly - not all of which are rich. Be that as it may, every last one of them has a 'smart phone' with every media plan available on them. I've asked a few what their monthly phone plan cost them .....and I simply can't figure how they afford those plans. Some don't even have cars, but they sure have the latest fancy phone. Texting must be absolutely essential for most folks, I just can't fathom it being worth what they're paying though
I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in Boulder without an iPhone/Blackberry/Droid, -I actually dearly like being out of touch from time to time!
I think that people actually DO need cell phones (you know they don't have a home phone, hardly anyone does), just NOT the phones that they do have. I don't have a smart phone. I want one, but they aren't good enough, nor affordable enough for me to get one yet. Sooner or later I'll be forced, but I'm putting it off as long as I can.
Yeah well I saw one O' them smart phones in the store,, wouldn't answer a single ? I asked.
Sounds like it was smart enough to know better than to talk to a dirty old man like you. ;)

I knew a directional driller on the rigs that was on food stamps cuz they used his wife's info and she was technically unemployed, yet he was making well of $250k a year back then.
IDK what ever happened to him but lost all respect for him and hope he rots in hell for taking advantage of the system like that.
For those of you who dont know, a directional driller is one of the highest paying jobs in the oilfield as far as for those working directly on the rig and they steer the well from the well plans to a predetermined target.

That's bullshit... I have a friend who worked as an entry level roughneck just a year ago and made more than enough to support him and his fiance. He said there's good money there and the directional drillers are the ones with the nice new Duramax 2500HDs and Ford F350 Super Duties that run around $40-50K. Sounds like this guy is a big POS.

My fiance and I went on food stamps last year when I lost my job. But I got a new job, reported the change of income and let them fizzle out. But man, they sure helped when we had them, and I was very grateful.

First off, congrats on finding a job and using the system as it was designed, a leg up for a short time of need. You however are the exception not the rule anymore. These entitlement people game the system and raise an entire next generation who know nothing but living on the dole and start doing so on their 18th birthday and the cycle continues.

that is exactly what is was designed for. to help the people who have the chair pulled out from under them but they are willing to get back up and beat the ass of the guy who grabbed the damn chair.
the rest of em just lay there and wait for oxygen, their bills to be covered, food given to them and a roof over there head.
What a great analogy! (pats self on back)

Yep. I agree that the system works as it's designed to. I think the problem is the mentality behind those that just live by cheating the system. It's laziness at it's peak.
