Of coarse you are. I have said this many times but anyone is welcome to come to the shoot. The one thing I don’t want is someone showing up wanting to shoot an unsuppressed firearm, but since it is public land I can't really stop anyone. If you want to shoot just bring ammo and I am sure we will let you try our stuff.

I was thinking we meet at McD's in Woodland Park at 9:30 unless any of you have a better idea.

That would work for me. If you guys decide on a different time just let me know.

Is anyone bringing a .45? I've been thinking of getting an HK .45 compact (when the wifey let's me) but I want to get a silencer for it, and I wonder if a silenced .45 is decently quiet enough, or if I'm better off getting a 9mm, or a .40.

MPfiveengineer

I hope it is not just 4 of us WTH is that? [poke]

I have at least 7 guys from silencertests.com coming. I think Muzzleflash said he was coming also. Does anyone want to grill, and if so do any of you guys have a portable gas grill?

At least one guy is bringing a .45 USP with a suppressor (I think its an SWR HEMS2). You can judge for your self on Saturday but suppressed .45's are loud compared to a 9mm or even a .40 cal. Most people who do shoot suppressed .45's shoot them "wet" which means they add an ablative such as water or gel to help cool and contract the gasses and thus making the suppressor quieter. The down side to this is that the ablative either evaporates or gets blown out the suppressor after a mag or two, it is also very dirty and gets crap all over you and your gun. Most .45 suppressors need to be shot "wet" in order to be hearing safe without ear protection where most 9mm's can be shot dry with no problem.

Also I just took possession of this today and you AR guys are welcome to try it on your gun. It is a Yankee Hill .223 suppressor that uses Sound Tech's baffle stack. I have not fired it yet but topherseven has one on his gun also and it is awesome. It makes an AR sound about like a 10/22.

I have two also. A 9mm suppressor that can fit either an UZI, a MAC11, or any gun with the Sionics 9MM threads. I also have a 22 can that fits the factory threads on an Intratec TEC22-T. I will bring both and the guns of course. I have 22 subsonic loads but no 9MM subsonic. If you want to shoot any of them, just bring some factory ammo. Karl.

I have about 2K rounds of 9mm subsonic if anybody needs any I will sell some for what it cost me. The Federal 147gr I got for about $8 a box from Sportsman’s guide and it works really well in carbines. I also have some Special K subsonic from Alabama Ammo that was $200 for 1K so about $10 a box, it is suppose to be the quietest 9mm subsonic on the market. You guys are also welcome to just try a few rounds.

A nice day, yummy bites, great guns. Looks like fun! I couldn't make it since I played Camel (cigarettes) Casino. At midnight Friday night and was in 1st place when I went to sleep. I knew then I had a good chance at being in the top 20 and winning $1,500. So I planned on sleeping in and missing the shoot.

Bad thing, I really wanted to see all the toys, especially the .45 silenced! Good thing, Christmas shopping is covered because I'll have a $1,500 check coming in October or November. Sure looks like you guys had fun. [postal] [sg1]

Ooooh that left a mark! What can was it and how was it mounted?

Sorry I couldn't make it this time. Way too much "in the hole" with domestic responsibilities after taking off all that time for the rainey Ft. Morgan event.

Looks like you all had a nice, quiet time :)

MPfiveengineer

Ooooh that left a mark! What can was it and how was it mounted?

It is a Yankee Hill .223 quick detach suppressor. It uses Sound Technologies baffle stack. It was mounted to my Vector 33K. When I bought the gun I had Vector specially thread the gun 1/2x28 instead or the HK metric threads so I could use my incoming AR suppressor. Neither the suppressor nor the QD flash hider came loose so I think the problem may be that Vector's threads are not concentric. I am going to send the gun and the can off to find out.

First, I used a Canon SD 400. It is a digital camera, that happens to take video, so you can not watch this video and use it for sound comparison test. It will do you no good, for example: in the video the AR-15 sounds almost the same as a P22 walter, and they were not even close. The mic will cut out any "really loud" sounds so that it does not blow.
But if you listen very carefully when im shooting the Uzi with trident can, I put it on single shot, and the first three shots are subsonic, and the next three are supersonic. you can kind of hear the sonic crack that goes on for a while after I shoot.
You really have to experience it in person to get the real effect, cause video is always worthless.

Anyways: Here it is, it is 30Mb so if you have a slow connection, it will take a while:
(Right click and save)
http://www.korgon.com/ryder/Guns/CO%20Silencer%20Shoot%2006.wmv

Man, I realized after the video that I blink a lot when shooting. You can really see it when I'm shooting Mp5's beretta with the trident can. I need to work on that.
I'm sure a lot of my blinking was atribbuted to shooting Hunters full auto M4 and the gas going through the chraging handle straight into my eye... I blinked alot after that, and got some sunglasses also...

I learned alot, but not enough... some many questions that I think of after wards, but this was very fun.

And the hotdogs and cheese brats were good too!!!

I will definatley be at dragon mans on the 24th, see you guys there.

I was happy when I got to compare my Glock 21 KKM Precision barrel and SWR H.E.M.S. version 1 directly with a HK USP with a AWC Nexus version one. (Both have a version 2 out now) I had the guy hold each pistol in each hand, he would shoot his, and then mine. I stood about 4 ft away. Used the same ammo. first we did it Dry, then we wet the cans down. Each time my H.E.M.S. one was louder then the Nexus. and same results when they were wet.

So I called Joe at SWR, and he is going to take care of my H.E.M.S. for me. I love his customer service. He is really a great guy to work with.

All I have to do is send it in, and he is going to "regut" it with H.E.M.S. 2 for me for free! Whoo hoo

Also, any body know the guy who had the AWC Nexus, with a HK USP and HK Mark 23? I would like to get in contact with him and do another direct comparision some time when I get teh new H.E.M.S. 2.

Alucard, it is good to have you as a member of this board. These guys need to realize that going through life with hearing protection is no way to live :P .

I am really glad to hear about your new HEMS2. Joe really goes above and beyond the call for his customer service. Whenever I am looking for a new can, SWR is the first place I look. Yankee Hill may give me some $hit on my warranty since a gunsmith did not install my flash hider  .

The other guy with the .45 can you are referring to is Samurai. He seems to be a very busy guy and does not post a lot on this board.

Thanks for doing the video. By the time you videoed the 10/22 it was filthy and I could not get much of a burst through it, you will have to catch me earlier next time.

The lack of hearing protection is understandable and indeed the whole point of this get-together.

The lack of eye protection in the video, however...

This was a fun shoot. Thanks MPfiveengineer for the trigger time. And if you ever want to get rid of that AA 10/22 stock let me know. ;)

Also was going to see if you have tried that DU Pont Teflon Multi-use lubricant? It’s supposed to help the 10/22 keep working after quite a few bricks.

All I have to do is send it in, and he is going to "regut" it with H.E.M.S. 2 for me for free! Whoo hoo

That is awesome...when you get your can back let me know and we can compare them again. I'm interested to hear how much of a difference it makes.

I'll send you a pm with my contact info.
