I don't know man. It's just not the time to go deep in debt. But- if you're secure and can afford it - good for you pal!

Man I love it! Great color choice too. I want a new one so bad but my '03 is paid off and still running strong(175,xxx miles). I know I go look at a new one I'll find it sitting in my driveway the next morning.

thanks! they had maroon, silver and blue. the silver is just to common, the red was cheaper and I kept trying to convince myself to get it, but I just loved the blue to much to not go with it. and yep I know how you feel, I just went to look and I came home with it.

Sweet truck!!! I love what dodge did with the new trucks. Now get it deleted and tuned, you will like it a LOT more. :).

Ps. H&S performance is the way to go. Smarty is good as well, but I don't think they have anything out for the 2010-2012 dodges.

One small piece of advice as a fellow 6.7 cummins owner, these trucks like to be driven hard, especially if you leave it stock!

I got the programmer and new exhaust (minus the cat and dpf) on it today, it runs great, the stock exhaust was a royal pain to remove, I had to drop the trans. cross member. it was not fun.

my last two truck's were duramax's I figured I'd try the cummins this time around, I've always liked the growling sound of the cummins alot more than the scream of the max. I just hope it is as reliable as the max was.

I have a friend that has an 09 and as nice as it is it is way too quiet. I think my 98 12V is plenty quiet but at least you can hear it. Mine is just getting broken in at 175K. [Coffee]

I agree that the newer diesels are to quiet. My '03 cummins just turned 176,xxx...bought in '06 with only 40k on the clock!!

Nice truck! - My buddy has a mega cab as well. He had a shop in Utah extend the frame, exhaust etc and slapped a long bed on it. From bumper to bumper it is 27 foot and some change long. It is THE nicest riding truck I have ever ridden in, and I'm a Chevy guy.

Nice truck, the only thing I don't like about the new diesels is that Damn DEF fluid, just another extra expense. You probably already know this but if that's a backup camera in your tail gate, don't forget to lock it cause those things get stolen quick and they ain't cheap.
Congrats.

The new cummins are the only diesel that dont use DEF. A big +1 to dodge for that one!

Wow that's awesome! Even the new petes in our fleet use DEF.

redneck122
09-24-2011, 20:31
Well the fleet model (cab and chasis) dodge do require DEF. Dont ask me why, as i am trying to figure that out myself. I would assume its some dumb EPA requirement.

I'm a Ford diesel tech, and it pissed me off when i had to take a training class for filling DEF systems [Bang]

took it out on her first towing trip through the mountains today nothing big, trailer was only 5500-6000 pounds it pulled like a dream, much smoother than my 08 gmc was, but my duramax was stronger up the hills than the cummins is. but on the downhill side the engine brake is 10 times better on the dodge than the gmc.

redneck122
09-24-2011, 21:23
Thats odd. i've always felt that the cummins felt stronger when pullin, but the Dmax and powerstroke were much fast unloaded. Its most likely how the power comes in at different RPM's

yeah i'll wait untill its broken in better and try it again in october, but i've been going to my property 4-5 times a year for over 10 years with the pretty much the same trailer set up, and by my garmin gps the duramax was around 4 mph. faster at the top of the same hill's, and by butt gps. the dodge was easier to tame and took much less brake effort to tame going down the other side.

if ford would ditch the antiquated front hub's i'd consider getting one next round.

Also, dodge is the only one that still offers a manual 6 speed. Thats a huge selling point for me

You mean the only ones left you can still unlock? What is the problem?

for starters imho they are outdated, when I bought my first new truck in 1996 it did not have hubs, and why in 2011 should it? i'm not going to use a 7000 pound 22 foot long truck that I just paid over $50k for offroading, I usually put wheels on my trucks and having to use those ugly open ended center caps is not an option for me. I dont understand the ford, chevy, dodge guy mentality. buy what you like and what works for you. thats my opinion, I've owned them all even an escalade truck, I really like the new powerstroke its leaps and bounds better than the last 6.0 version they made, I went and looked at the new f350 and f450 drw's 4 times but I could not get myself to commit, and the only sticking point was the hubs for some reason. could be my ocd?

well i got the plates for it, wtf? $1100.00 fn dollars i about kicked the desk over and walked out. this is the biggest pile of bs i have ever seen in my life, these sob's will be expired till the day i trade it in because I would rather pay the $100.00 fine for expired plates 10 times than give these corrupt aholes another buck. and what is the deal with a $200.00 prior owner tax? it was goddamm brand new, who was the prior owner? did the prior owner not pay taxes? if it was not? rant ove,r the foul language filter kept me from expressing my real thoughts....[Mad][Rant1]
