View Full Version : Irene can't stop these guys
This is freaking sweet! Some of the most disciplined and professional service members in America are still standing their ground at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier despite hurricane Irene slamming the Eastern Seaboard.

Another reason to be proud of our country and those who serve!

Those dudes are hardcore.
Neat story I just remember relating to that... my Drill SGT in Basic was part of old guard (but not a tomb sentry) and was telling us how rigorous and difficult it was for Drill & Ceremony for them- like getting kicked out of the unit if you weren't damn near perfect. So he said they were in a formation for some dog and pony show for some Pentagon brass when the guy next to him got stung in the back of the neck by a bee... he didn't flinch. After the ceremony they were talking and the guy told him "That hurt like hell! I wanted to scream but we must maintain discipline and order."
Wow. Those guys are just amazing.
I have some super respect for those guys, although I can't say I envy them.

I served there. Tomb Guards are extremely disciplined. I was there during Hurricane Isabel...although the news stories stated the guards were relieved for the evening it wasn't true. None of them would have left even if they were relieved.
I get goosebumps to this day next to the TUS
