Yeah its tough to pay your bills when you live in a multimillion dollar home, wear $5000 suits, and drive a $200,000 car. Poor bastards. [Bang]
I for one want to start a fund for them, breaks my heart.

This article makes me fucking sick. If Steve get's re-elected, the people in his district are fucking retarded. He had to give up his family business? No, dickhead, you didn't have to give it up. You chose to give it up. How dare this sorry excuse for a man bitch about his job. I'm sorry times are so tough for you, Mr. Congressman. But if times are so fucking hard, maybe you should just quit. You're a GD public servant. SERVANT. That means you have to make sacrifices for your country and its constitution, which you swore an oath to. It must be pretty fucking tough getting paid $174,000 to decided whether you're gonna vote yes or no on something. While the rest of the country wishes it had a job, you're complaining about "only" getting paid 3.4 times as much as the lucky bastard that still has a one. Where does a shitfuck like this get the balls to complain about his security when he and his ilk vote to send our men and women overseas to fight in two wars? Fuck this guy.
If I may borrow a line from Maxine Waters, Steve can "go straight to hell".

Wow! Great rant...until you quoted Maxine Waters. I thought I raised you better than that.
However, I agree. They can all go piss up a rope. I say we lower their pay to about $14 per hour. $12 per hour in the Senate because they have a longer contract and a little more job security.

I ran a few quick numbers. This ass-monkey is making $19.86 per hour, every hour of every day. I know he's not working every single hour.
So I'm not really sure what he's bitching about.
If you figure he works 80 hours per week, every week of the year, his hourly rate comes out to almost $42 per hour.
What a shitbag.
I'm going to his website right now to tell him that. Can't make ends meet my ass.

Really? I thought the Maxine Waters quote was a nice touch. You know who she was talking about when she said that, right? Although, in hindsight I wish I had used the word "fuckstick" instead of "shitfuck", but oh well.

Yeah, I'm gonna write him, too. But I'm going to do a little research first to see if I can tell him how else he's fucked up (or maybe doing good, but I doubt it) and see who's running against him. What a fusckstick.

Best response to this ever:
The Tea party responds with "we just though she was inviting us to her district.."
If they don't like the pay, they can just resign, there are plenty of real Americans that would appreciate that paycheck....

Simple solution.
Build a big dormitory for Congress and give them free dorm housing, free access to the Congressional cafeteria, pay them the Median Household Income* (based on Census Department figures (http://www.census.gov/prod/2010pubs/acsbr09-2.pdf) that would currently be $50,221) and limit them to two terms. Problem solved.
They are free to spend their own money on an apartment and fancy restaurants.
The founders never intended Congress to be made up of life long professional politicians, the Congress is supposed to be made up of citizen legislators that put in a couple of terms as public servants and then return to their regular lives.
*My initial thought was to pay them minimum wage, but since they control that amount we'd end up with a minimum wage of $45/hr

I work for .mil. I was given a one-time $300 allowance to buy my work uniforms. I rent a 'just-ok' house because there wasn't anything available for me on the installation.
I make ends meet. Then again, I've never had a case of the 'keeping-up-with-the-jones'. I drive a POS 1997 Jeep. Everyone to my left and right (at work) drives a BMW, Lexus, or some other manner of fancy car.
Everyone that thinks you can't live well on a meager wage, is wrong.

How about the meager pay raise they are giving us (military) or the fact we almost not got paid, or almost was paid a half rate. This guy is a piece of shit. There's not a lot I wouldn't do for $176,000. I hope he ends up in the soup kitchen greedy piece of shit excuse for a congressman.

Think about the requirements for your job and what you get paid for meeting those requirements. Now think about the requirements to serve in Congress:
House of Representatives/US Senate Job Requirements:
US Citizen
25 years old, 30 years old for senators
Lived in US for 7 years, 9 years for senators
Live in the state you represent (not in the district)Now, the only other requirement is that you get elected. That's probably the most difficult part of the job. But it's really not part of the job...that's just the hiring process.
For that you get paid $174,000 to be a rank and file member of the house or senate.
There are no requirements for experience, education, training...nothing. That's it.
I have a friend who flies an Airbus A320. He makes about $150,000 per year. Pretty good pay. But compare the requirements for his job and the requirements for a representative or senator. I think you'll find the pilot must have more experience, more formal education, more training and more ongoing training than a member of congress.
I made about $60,000 as a police officer with 15 years experience (10 years ago). There were far stricter educational requirements, training requirements, experience requirements and standards of behavior than what a member of congress must meet for about 1/3 of the pay.
It's a freakin' disgrace. And for this guy to bitch like a little girl about it frosts my ass.

I know exactly what you mean... I bought a BMW after my deployment with all that tax free- can't spend it anywhere- cash. I never used my meal card, I always cooked my own food because it didn't suck, and I managed just fine on E-4 pay for 2 1/2 years. How these cheesedicks can't figure out that $174K/year is well beyond "living comfortably" is beyond me. I have friends that live pretty comfortably on $75K/year, so minus $100,000 from the congressional pay and we'll see them maybe balance their own budgets then get to work on the country's.
Do you guys think that due to the amount of money it takes to get elected to office, that right wingers turn more liberal to get more contributions ?

Probably. But I think those from both sides of the aisle will say what they need to say to get elected.
If you'll notice, liberals always get more conservative right around election time.

Could be. To be a politician these days usually means you have to be an effin' weasel to begin with, with some exceptions, so that could very well be true. It also shows a complete lack of character and principle if it's true.
Kinda goes back to the whole "I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for something I'm not" saying.

Yeah, they all tell us what we want to hear. The problem is getting them to follow through with what they say.......
