Anybody know or seen a place that's got AK47's for a reasonable price?

DANGERTASTIC!

Prices on those have been going up the past few months making them...well... NOT reasonable.

Last december Cheaperthandirt had them for $379.00.
Now, CTD is selling them for $489.00... Ridiculous when you think about an AK going for about $50.00 anywhere else in the world.

Check out Century International, Also, one of my favorite places is Impact Guns.com

One thing that might help a touch: are you looking for local sources or online sales?

+1 for Bear Arms- well worth the run to Windsor plus they are an Industry Partner here. Gotta support the home boys. Probably one of the best shops for no attitude folks.

A little further south in Loveland is Jensens.

Metro area shops that would more than likely have a selection of Avtomat Kalishnakova:
Green Mountain Guns off of 285 and Kipling.
Machine Gun Tours on west Colfax, cant recall the crossstreet.
5280 Armory off of 54th and Marshall good selection, price and attitude may vary.
Prairie Arms on south SanteFe around C470

Here is a chart I ran across while doing some research.
It shows the prices that AK's sell for on the "Black Market" in other countries.
I am sharing it because I was quite surprised at some of the numbers/prices.
These examples may help explain why in many cases the US importers get out bid for AK's that are being offerred for sale overseas.
The AK is still quite popular and will fetch a good price!

The one to buy is that Romanian M10 that Alan sells.
It is a new production AK!
I own one myself.

It is good to see Richard here. If you go to the store and mention you saw it here on COAR I will make the M10 down from $650 to $599!

I got my Romanian WASR10 from 5280 Armory for $365 or so... great gun, works good, looks like the traditional classic GEN II Avtomat Kalashnikov Model 47... Plus they have some dirt cheap Yugo 7.62 and tons of $7 (IIRC) surplus metal mags...
My heart will always belong to 5280, they've been the best go-to gun shop in town.

a wasr is usually romy model 75 built on a civilian version of a model 90 receiver. nothing wrong with them at all in fact they generally run great and have functional accuracy but the only thing classic about them is laminate wood (from a purist standpoint). on the modernized akm the romy's don't have a mag well dimple on the receiver (the rpk lost it's dimples in the mid 70's) but for some reason they kept magwell dimples on the aimr (draco). either way if the barrel parts aren't installed canted then they're great guns lol

if you do want a "classic" akm then try finding at least a wasr with a ttunnion date of 1974 or earlier (assuming it's matching numbers) that would be one of the wasr 63/10 or something like that, wasr built with a model 63 as a parts donar.

wow i really went off topic haha

No it's good, I like to learn more- considering all I ever learned about the AK family is all Soviet stuff from USAMIS, that is until I purchased my romy WASR10 and just shoot the daylights out of it... fun guns and I keep it right next to my AR.

if you'd like to learn more about the kalashnikov platform, it's variants from different countries and their different models then i suggest hanging out over on Theakforum.net (not trying to dra people away from here mods) i am on there alot myself and hile i like all variants i'm generally lurking over in the east german, polish and biy sections. Zteknik is over there from time to time too as well as others from here
