No, not because all they produce anymore is leftist propaganda ... I can live with that.

I'm just sick and tired of all the effing remakes.

Every year there are hundreds (if not thousands) of new novels written.
Every year there are hundreds (if not thousands) of screenplays written.
Plus, there is still a long backlog of good books and screenplays on the shelf that haven't been touched yet.

But here we go again ... another remake coming (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=81618) (ironically this one sounds like it could be good, but still).

And Johnny Depp is no William Powell (but it could be worse ... could be Leonardo DiCaprio).

Agreed 100%. Them remaking Total Recall was the final straw for me...

It is total bullshit... everything is a remake these days (or a re imagining, but you can't fool me!)... it's either endure a remake, sequel, prequel, or rehash... or go see a fucking comic book based movie that unless you read every damn comic you will have no clue whatsoever what's going on. Seriously, I just stopped scratching my head last night after seeing Captain America on Sunday.
And seriously, WTF is with them remaking Red Dawn!? Classic Sheen/Swayze 80's awesomeness, now it's going to be ruined!

Actually the remake of Red Dawn is going to be ruined because it was written and shot with the Chinese invading and then so as to not offend our overlords and masters; China, they changed it in post production to the North Koreans.

They are remaking flatliners too.

What!? That was a good movie- I don't see how they can achieve the same level of creepiness as the original. And without Julia, Bacon and Kiefer it will be a cinematic flop.

I can't wait to see the new Footloose and Dirty Dancing!

I do wish they'd remake Avatar though, because that movie sucked balls.

Chuck Norris won't let anyone play him so the news is there will be no Chuck Norris Da Man movie coming out anytime soon.

I tend to agree that remakes stink. The problem is there have been some good remakes so I can't condemn them all out of hand.

I liked Clint Eastwood in A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More as much as the original. Bruce Willis did a good job on the remade remake of A Fistful of Dollars.

The Magnificent Seven was as good as the original.

For completely different reasons I like the Omega Man and Night of the Comet which were later versions of The Last Man on Earth. I did not like the Will Smith I Am Legend version of Last Man.

I enjoy both incarnations of The Mechanic.

There are others but I'll stop there.

There are plenty of other remakes I don't like though. I can't see how they can redo Blade Runner without screwing it up.

As mentioned before one big problem on remaking older movies is the political correct bullshit. PC makes it impossible to not ruin it. Look what they did to the original Star Wars when they first released it on DVD. I'm glad they did finally released it in original form.

It just shows that movie makers and investors can be lazy and timid too.

It isn't just movies. I hate remixes of music. If you're too lazy make your own version of a song don't screw up someone elses music. That's stealing and obscene.

I loved 7 Samurai- I think that Kurosawa was a genius! And to be honest Yojimbo was great, and Last Man Standing (with Willis and Walken) was equally great. Just as long as they do it right- kinda like with Magnificent Seven and Last Man Standing, they weren't feudal Japan flicks but took the story and adapted them to the western genre.
I agree with music- hence why I hate Puff Daddy or whatever he calls himself now... sampling everything? How about being original!

DANGERTASTIC!

I'm down with that.

Just got through with Your Highness. No it wasn't my choice. Absolute waste of time. This is becoming the norm for movies. No imagination. No intrique. No intelligence. Just the same lame formula.

With me, I guess I can put up with all the crappy movies that come out cuz I don't watch that many. I rarely pay to go to a theater. I wait til it's on Netflix or TV.

I can't put up with all the celebrities who think just because they're famous they should constantly be spouting off about their ideals. Not saying they aren't entitled to an opinion, just there's a time and place to promote it. When I'm paying to see you, that isn't the time.

My ex-girlfriend (who's currently my wife of 22 years) once got really pissed at me while we were dating. We had tickets to a John Denver concert in Omaha that had been heavily promoted on Offutt AFB. Most of the crowd was military or military family members. Offutt AFB was home to Strategic Air Command (controlled all the nuke forces) at the time.

JD gets on stage, sings a song or two, then goes into a fucking political diatribe about the evils of nuclear weapons, can't we just all give each other a hug and get along, etc...

I yelled out that he could go fuck himself and told Mrs BG that I was leaving. She was embarrassed but apparently didn't wanna walk home. I think she got the picture when about a third of the crowd was walking out with us. Everyone was bitching about what an asshat JD was.

His music is great. He's a dumbass. That's the kind of thing I don't like about celebrities.

BTW...the remake of True Grit was fantastic.

+1000! I would have walked out too... it's similar to the whole Dixie Chicks incident... SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SING! We don't care what your political beliefs are, we want to hear your music. Unless you're Bono and you're saying something like "These innocent people died at the hands of a tyrannical, abusive government, Sunday, Bloody Sunday!" I don't think we should lash out as harshly as they did with Dixie Chicks, and I really think it was childish and immature for Toby Keith to lash out too (Like his music, but after meeting him, he's a dick!). Celebrities, and I don't care if they have an IQ of 200, are fucking dumb and they need to just be our damn monkey in a box and entertain, that's why they pay Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly and Cooper to talk on TV, not why they pay Matt Damon.

Well here I go complaining about Hollywood being all lame and then I see this.

OMG I've been waiting for Edgar Rice Burroughs Mars series to be made into movies since I was 10!

If Disney screws it up I'll shoot that damn mouse in the head myself. But based on the trailer it looks pretty good ... the only obvious deviations I saw from the books are the fact that John Carter shows up on Mars naked in the book but clothed in the movie (which I actually prefer) and it looks like the green men are a little smaller (should be 18', but making them 8' wouldn't bother me), And John Carter had short hair and was cleanly shaved (minor style bit, but frankly having him with long hair makes his character look like Conan or any other swashbuckling fantasy character of the last 4 decades) Oh, and I don't see any guns ... there were cool guns with exploding ammo in the books.

avatar was like independence day.

first time I saw it, I was like "woah, awesome!!"

second time, I was like "wow, actually this kind of sucks."

third time, I was like "screw this, there's NCIS reruns on USA"

They did a remake of Total Recall? I'm guessing that I never heard that before because if it holds true that all remakes are not as good as the original, this one must have been horrid!!! Don't get me wrong, I like watching Total Recall, but I would not say that it is worthy of a remake.
