I was selling dedicated managed servers for the last few years and also SaaS products like MS Exchange, Zimbra, Sharepoint and such.

Being unemployed is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's the lack of a paycheck thing that sucks.
BTW, start with the unemployment office FIRST, can take weeks to get started. (and your severance has to run out first), but get the claim in and running.
health insurance is the big problem. COBRA BLOWS. it's way expensive. BUT, there's a sweet little catch. You can always just pay your COBRA insurance in arrears. Meaning, you can go without for 3, 4, 5 months and if something happens, you just pay the 3,4,5 months worth of back dated premiums and you're covered. And if you get insurance/another job before COBRA runs out (18 months), and you haven't paid a dime.
After that, just get a catastrophic package so little things you have to pay for but maybe $100 or $200 a month if something big happens.
BTW, hit the doctors hard today, it probably runs out end of the month (today), they can usually squeeze you in for a physical whatever, as long as you explain what just happened.
DANGERTASTIC!

Sorry to hear buddy. Dont stress at all, shit ALWAYS works out. And it works out exactly when its supposed to
I can almost guarantee that this happened so another door could open.
Keep your head up man

that sucks...hopefully it doesnt last to long[Luck]
I know it sounds cliche, but for every door that closes, another opens. I worked for 13 years for a company that went tits up, and ended up starting my own business. 15 years later, I'm still working for myself, making decent money, and enjoying what I do. My boss is a real dickhead, though.
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you're maintaining a positive attitude. That will get you back in the saddle.

Oh, I may be there (again) after next week..

Sorry to hear about the Layoff.
SaaS and "cloud" type services are all the buzz right now, hopefully you'll find something soon. I'm in the same general business so feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll look to see if there are any internal job postings that might fit for you. I work for a pretty big outfit, so you never know.
good luck [Beer]

Don't forget how selfish and self absorbed he is too Jim.
Damn man, that sucks. Good luck with the new career

Hey guys, wanted to take a minute to say thank you. I only joined this site this year, and not to get too cheesy...love having you guys 'around'. All of the nice words are good to hear and keep me thinking positive. Some of you reached out and sent pm's with additional help and info too, you know who you are and I appreciate it beyond words...I mean hell, I haven't even met anyone from here yet!
Still riding the positive train...I had an interview today @ 1:30 and nailed it HARD! Will be getting a call next week for round 2 of interviews.
YOU GUYS ROCK! THANKS!

Haha I remember those commercials Zund.
Mmmm I could go for a CL smooth right about now. Funny how my beer time seems to move up so easily without a workplace in my 8-5.

Best wishes getting back to work. At least you have time to clean your guns. I know when work slowed down for me, all my neglected guns strangely became spotless!! Good luck
