Did you hear that? Hitler just slipped on a sheet of ice and broke something down in hell!
Ridiculous. I know more than a few people who are going to complain to AAFEES, myself included, even though I can't shop there anymore.

Meh, there is a magazine for every niche market and there always will be. If it doesn't sell, then they will stop carrying it.

Doubt it. Although your economic assertion is correct, I highly doubt the government gives a flying flip about economics. If it doesn't sell, it will stay on the shelves. Because once it's there, if you take it down it's because you're a homophobe.

I remember many moons ago when I was a LT there was a huge uproar when the nudie magazines were removed from the shelves of the PX. Back then, you could get Playboy, Penthouse, etc. at your local exchange. So now they are selling gay magazines, big deal.

I personally don't care what magazines they sell. Homosexuals have been in the Army / military and now they can serve without having to lie or seal their identity. Who cares? Not me.

For those serving and who have a problem with this, then get out. Seriously, get out. No one is begging your to serve. Hell, we are under a force reduction so this is the perfect opportunity to stand your ground and go into the civilian job market. For those who aren't in the military but have a problem with it, thanks but it really doesn't matter what you think.

There was a time when the population was in an uproar when blacks/African-Americans were allowed to serve in open ranks. The same thing happened when women were allowed to serve in greater rolls as well. This too will pass and the military will continue to carry on.

Touche! We had a kid who tried hand and foot to get out during AIT, he was gay, and when he went to the CDR she (yes, that's right, we had a female CDR in AIT and she was HOT! ya know, for an officer lol) told him "Don't tell me, you have to be caught in the act." So he went AWOL for a day came back during our evening formation with a civilian boy and they started making out right in front of everyone. Needless to say his chapter paperwork began a few moments later and he was gone in a week. Didn't much matter to me. He was nice to me, never made any unwanted advances at me, so it didn't affect me. I have a couple friends who are combat fairies (not my term, they use it on themselves), and have no issues with them, in fact they serve just as proudly as everyone else.

The issue I have is the leagues of closed minded individuals, such as the Army Times poll that showed over 65% of those polled would not re-enlist if DADT were repealed. Shows that they just don't understand there are already gays serving, and it hasn't been detrimental to unit cohesion or moral thus far, so why should it change if they are serving openly? Seeing as how our unit had a pair of females attracted to each other, caught in the act during a field exercise, and really nothing happened! And they were NCO's to boot... really the only black mark for them was a command directive to stay away from each other while on duty and one was moved to a different company. No skin off my back either way.

My thought pattern on this was people being "openly gay" in a professional environment. I don't go around spouting how strait I am and I don't expect someone to go rub their preference in my face. I worked and knew people in my unit that were gay, but they kept it professional. I Didnt get out due to this, but I can see where if it got to the point that people were using it as leverage I would probably not reenlist either. Already have plenty of people in the military using race and sex as leverage now you got this too. Also don't get me wrong not everyone uses the race card or "i cant do that im a woman", but it is rather irritating that when your treated as an equal you try to use personal attributes to your advantage.

A gay magazine? Oh the horror!

I don't give a shit either way. The only thing that matters in the military is if he/she is a good Soldier.

DADT is a purely political thing and has nothing to do with the operational effectiveness of our military.

Excuse the pun, but if you can save my ass under fire, then I want you watching my ass when it's on the line. [Beer]

Gay magazine? What so every time you load a round it goes "Ugh!" and then whenever it is minus a round it says "ahh"?

Just wait until other country's military hears about this.... we will be the laughing stock of the crowd. Some of our military leaders have to be beating their heads agains the wall about this [Bang]. I am disgusted that our post exchanges are allowing this. Why don't they just open up a gay porn video section while they're at it, or even a gay spa. We are definitely going in the wrong direction...

We are behind many other leading nations in allowing gay service members to serve openly. Military leaders are not banging their heads against the wall. For the most part, those serving don't care. It seems to me that those not in the military are making a big deal out of this. I for one don't care and I know it won't affect the ability of our military.

Remember when they were kept in the closet, did it in the closet or something to do with the closet?
I liked it better when that's where they were...

First time one of you show a picture of a man with a gun and respond with "I'd hit it" I'm going to delete my membership....

Not a homophobe, I am just happy there is a place I can go and its not in my face, I wont watch TV unless it is a hunting channel, outdoor channel, discovery channel etc. I won't watch any local TV channels in the evening anymore. I don't think I should have to explain two men or two women kissing to my 11yo. I am moving to the mountains....
Damn, I am getting fired up, I better stop!

Gays in general: F*cking disgusting and absolutely wrong IMO, but as long as you aren't in my face about it or hitting on me or anything we won't have a problem.
Gays in the military: Unacceptable.

Fuck! The little devil just appeared in a poof of smoke on my shoulder. Sorry mcantar, I have to do it... Why oh why do people always use the tired and cliche'd "I have no problem with gays until they hit on me"? Have you ever been hit on by a gay? I have, yes it's a little uncomfortable the first time, but if you respectfully inform them you're not gay and not interested then usually* they stop and leave you alone. I knew a few gays during my tenure in the Army and really didn't have a problem with them. They never let it hurt unit cohesion or morale, they never over stepped their bounds, and they really didn't rub it in our faces. Do I agree with their lifestyle? No, but I try to prescribe to a live and let live with homosexuality, even if it annoys me when they stand on their soap box and scream how proud they are of being the way they are. We already are the laughing stock of the Western Military realm, they wonder why it took us so long to open up and let them serve openly, such as France, Czech Republic, UK and Aus. that allow gays to openly serve.
(*Usually is a loose term because I for one have had them try to relentlessly pursue me and then I throw in the threat of physical violence to make them back off.)

1. Because then it becomes my problem, or rather something I have to put up with. If they aren't hitting on me or being in your face about it, I can ignore it.
2. Could it be that those service members didn't overstep their bounds or rub it in your faces because they'd be kicked the f*ck out if they had? Now that its (soon to be) legal for them to do so, you can expect plenty of "rub it in your face" types to pop out of the woodwork.
3. I really have no desire to become more like the fags in France, or the tards in the UK, or any of those relatively tiny countries like Austria... or really any other country for that matter.

Oh I agree with all your points, was just playing devil's advocate. And yes, if they do come out of the woodwork rubbing it in there is enough proof right there that it will affect unit morale and order and then we'll need to get a republican in office to put forth DADT again.
