So I picked up a small safe yesterday. I want to put it in my laundry room cause of the concrete floor. I'm concerned about the extra moisture in the air in there. Will this affect anything or will some desiccant bags take care of it?

I doubt there will be any issue. However, I keep a can of re-usable dessicant in my safe. You cook it in the stove for a few hours and it is good to go again.

make sure you use some silicone calk around your bolts (in case flooding ) , but yes desiccant bags should do the trick .

Sounds like a safe place.

Man the next safe I get I dont care where it goes but I will be putting some De-humidifyers in. I had my last one in my buddy's garage for 2 weeks while I moved and man.....Lets just say gander will buy anything [Coffee] lost a couple nickle plate pistols over that.
Should be ok but you can never be too safe...I have one of those dehumidifier that has an color indicator that changes, and all I have to do is plug it in a household socket for a few hours. Was like $25

If you guys ever want a huge bag of desiccant for your safes stop by any Harley shop. Harley Davidson motorcycles are shipped in a crate, sealed in plastic with a couple big ol bags of desiccant inside about the size of a loaf of bread. if you go to your local HD dealership and ask em real nice for one or two bags and most of em will give em to you for FREE!!!!!
Concrete is not a vapor barrier. If they didn't put a vapor barrier down before pouring the concrete you might want to put one down under the safe before you bolt it down.

so when you core that concrete are you for sure where your pipes are located?
-put a can light in it. The can light will cost $10 and will burn off excess moisture. Very cheap peace of mind.

Cool maybe I'll pay you for the safe too.[Tooth]

No.....any tips on how to find them? I'm pretty sure my pipes are routed in the basement and through the walls from there.
Also will be using silicone socks for my more valuable guns Garands etc.... do they work worth a shit.

4 5$ bags of concrete, 4 2x4's a dozen nails, 4 .50 cent foundation bolts and you have an elevated pad that is secure to bolt the safe to.
You want to elevate it in a basement and especially in a laundry room.
De humidifier or dessicant is a must.

I had mine in the basement where it was pretty humid. Just used lots of dessicant......and made sure to take them out for attention on a somewhat regular basis. Even if I didn't shoot them I'd tear em down, clean and reoil so the metal would be protected. Good excuse to spend a lot of time in the fun room :D
I think I am going to try asking the harley dealership for some dessicant now. I found keeping all the dessicant pouches out of shoes, boxes, etc and tossing a few in each ammo can made me feel better, but could never find a reasonable source for large quantities.

+1 for this plan!!!!

If the Harley thing doesn't pan out (great tip though) this is what we use in our lab. You can bake it several times, and it changes color to let you know that it's absorbed moisture. You can also buy the white stuff (non-indicative) if it's cheaper, and mix in some of the indicator to keep an eye on it.
I would not put a firearm safe in a basement.
Washer hoses burst, sewers flood and water runs down hill.
