The Flu. We have confirmation of influenza breaching the outer perimeter at 9am yesterday. Down immediately were my wife and 7 year old daughter. Nothing would stay down. 3 year old had a flu shot a few weeks ago and wouldn't you know, she's just fine. I avoided contamination, or at least I thought I did until I woke up at midnight with the shivers.
If you've not done so....GO GET A FLU SHOT. I should have and now I'm paying the price. We planned on Elitch today, that's out. Reunion party tomorrow night, confidence is at 5% on that one. Darn darn darn....at least I can type. [Help]
damn that sucks , hope you feel better

Hope you guys get better ASAP!
I know its going around, last time I got a shot I was sick in bed for 4 days no eating or drinking, didnt even have to use the restroom after day 2. That was 2 years ago, I probably wont get one again.
I just got over it a couple weeks ago, first time in 4 years (since I'm no longer subject to command mandated flu shots) that I've caught that nasty little bug. Out of action time: 4 1/2 days.
Get well soon, and hopefully you don't get the residual effects that I did (sore throat for 3 days after, hard to eat acidic and spicy foods from my esophagus being torn up by stomach acid).
I normally don't ever get a flu shot but last year with my wife being pregnant with out first, we both got it. Think we will continue this year. Hope you get some rest and feel better

I've never had a flu shot. Unless when I was a baby or something.

Dang, hope you guys start feeling better.
I try everything possible short of sexual favors to get out of getting my flu shot or "the mist". It's pretty tough, being in the military, to not get one, but sometimes it works out. The only time I ever get sick with the flu is when I get that darned flu shot.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN GETTING THE FLU SHOT, SOME CONTAIN MERCURY
Don't believe me, Google it for yourself.

Me and the boy are getting our jewels kicked with allergies! Only in CO does it get GREENER during the summer and then have spring like pollen explosions!!!
This is Sept! I cant wait for the snow to kill all the weeds and my grass so I don't have to mow anymore!
Seems like the only time I get the flu is when I get a shot.
haven't had a flu shot in years.
hope you feel better

Infiltration update: yesterday I was down for the count. Could barely make it to the john to take care of business. The wife was wonderful, took great care of me, even the kids didn't go crazy and allowed me a day off. Best thing is that they were totally understanding as yesterday was supposed to be our Free Elitch Day (yeah, they comped me family tickets because of the situation regarding the gang bangers smokers) Guess we'll try for next week.
Today I feel much better, I can actually walk around, we'll see how long that lasts.

I've never had a flu shot and I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been sick (usually when I was younger) and it drives my wife nuts that I don't get sick. She, on the other hand, is sick at least once a year and comes from a family that gets their flu shots regularly. Their whole family is always sick too. I have no proof or facts to support this statement but I feel like those who get shots tend to be the most sick. My non-scientific observation is that those who don't get them tend to also get the least sick while those who do, do. I can't help but wonder what good they are. It could be that those same people have very weak immune systems and w/o the shot would be perpetually sick but I doubt that's the case. If it works for you and your family that's great but I'm a skeptic and have lots of good health to back me up.
Also, my good friend happens to be a biochemist who worked at CDC and conversations about this very topic with him are what help to back up my own personal stance. At best the flu shot is a guess (in order to meet production they take a guess at which strain they think will be the one that hits this season) and most of the time they aren't the proper strain.
I hope your family gets well soon but don't kick yourself because you didn't get your shot and think you could have prevented it that easily. People get sick and that's a fact of life. There is no magic shot you can get that makes it all go away.
