No, I'm not planning on getting a Toyota Hilux and making my own "Technical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_%28vehicle%29)", but once the Porsche sells, I do plan on hunting down an old jeep and was wondering if I ever decided to mount either a semi auto or completely demilled Ma Duce or .30 machine gun on it if there would be any legal problems.

I figure you can't drive around with a loaded gun mounted on the Jeep, but what about an unloaded but functional gun? Or a non-functional dummy gun?

I couldn't find any Colorado laws in my brief bit of googling.

There is a Colorado specific law against imitation explosive devices, which some officer might misconstrue as to cover a gun.

If it's a dummy device and you aren't pointing it at people... but I'd probably pay the cash to ask a lawyer first. Better safe than sorry.

I know of a shop in KS. That makes Ma Duece faux replicas, not an exact copy, but good enough for parades and Military equipment shows.

Yup, thats who I would call. Last time I was in there he told me he had vehicle mounts in stock. Probably the only place in town to stock something like that.

Don't know anything about it, but when you go hunting down an old Jeep, give me a call.

I have a 1964 CJ5 I bought years ago intending to fix up, and then lost interest. Everything's there, except some decent seats, and it has a half steel top. It's a project, but it wouldn't be a hard one.

Colorado law allows transport of weapons in vehicles (without one in the chamber, unless it's a handgun), and I bet there are plenty of people that run around hunting season with gun racks, seems to me to just be an awesome extension of that allowance?

And of course, when you do it, post pics.... haha

I know a guy that has a pintle mounted demilled .30 cal on a WWII vintage HD sidecar. He said he never gets hassled, but gets a lot of questions at gas stops...[M2]
