Do you have to be licensed or anything?

don't need a lic or anything, used to do a couple a month, when I was bounty hunting, usually got $50 bucks per, you just have to have a disinterested third party do it, they sign saying that they served the right person and return the rest of the paper word. I did it for a lawyer, just didn't like doing it, some people take it in stride, and others wont open the door, and others are really angry that your there, so you have to get someone who knows what to do, You can call a bondsman and ask who does his serving, then just call him/her.

FYI: They will also charge you a fee for an unsuccessul attempt. Meaning they're not going to be driving and knocking for free.

Were are you located and where is the person that needs to be served located at?
You can get anyone not associated personally with you or the person being served to serve the person.
If your in the Metro area, Ill serve them for some ammo for my AR as payment.

I'm in Fountain, they be in Ft. Collins. I have to check with the court I got screwed with this weekend, I think I have to re-file first.

If you can cover gas I'd be willing to serve it for ya, but you're an hour south of me and they're an hour north of me so it'll be a bit of a drive.

I could help out, I am in FT Collins. But I think the server has to go sign at the court right?

You know guys- it's just not that simple. All a person has to do to avoid service is not open the front door. I have seen people go to great and ridiculous lengths to avoid service. It is a huge help to the process server to know something more about the subject than his home address. Where do they work and what is their schedule? What do they drive and what do they look like? All of this is essential to quick, efficient and low cost service. Is it personal service only or can you serve anyone over the age of 16 at the given residence? If you think you just need to give the paper to some 3rd party, give the subject's name and address and it will be done- good luck. It is just usually not that simple. Unless you're really lucky.

That's what they did. So I wasted time and money trying to get this person served. Guess I'll just add that to my next summons as well, if I even fuck around in small claims this time.

Sneakerd hit the nail on the head. You defiantly have to do your homework before serving someone.
Knowing all this info is a definate help. Its almost like being a Private Investigator.
I have served a number of people and I got as much info as I could possibly before setting out. I had one guy chase after me on foot and I had left my keys in the truck so I could take off cuz I was told by the Serving Party, this guy had violent temper. I did CCW that day but never did I feel it was a need since my plan was to just avoid the confrontation.
I would definatly do it if this was in the Metro area as I dont know FT Fun all that well.

I am just now coming out to the light of the small claims process. It's taken me a year to get some $ from my ex-boss. I still have to have him (actually his payroll person) served with the court garnishment paperwork. But I'm close to finally seeing some money.
Keep it up, it's worth it.

Good for you- Garnishments are easy, you just bring them into the subject's workplace. I don't think you actually have to have the payroll person served.

Ok sounds great. I'll have to call the court and ask. I have to go to the courthouse (Weld Cty) to have the paperwork done in person though. So that's what's ahead of me for this week. Soon enough I'll have a few extra bucks coming in though.
