The only thing more ridiculous then seeing those things on the road...is the owners will never even THINK about taking them OFF road lol

Well, I wouldn't think of taking that PowerStroke off road either. It probably has zero articulation, and wouldn't be able to fit anywhere.

That's pretty much my point, I've been looking around for a nice fixer upper LS6 and they ain't cheap. These clown mobiles on 26" wheels usually get a laugh out of me but a chevelle...a super sport chevelle?? C'mon.

While I agree that unusable lifts like the one Pook posted, and unusable wheel/tire setups like Byte's, big lifts and tires DO have their place.

Here's an old truck of mine, used heavily on and off the pavement....

To give you an idea of the size, those tires are Michelin XMLs (used on the Army's Strykers IIRC), 46" tall... only 24" shorter than I am. My head was right around the bottom of the door handles.
It did have a legit purpose though, after winter when the snow melts the ranch pretty much turned into a swamp and this is the only practical way to get across it.

Also, there are times that putting a lift and large tires on a car is perfectly acceptable [Tooth]

If it's for a utilitarian purpose such as crossing swampy land on a ranch or a "sport" like rock crawling then fine. But just as something to drive down your road.... In my humble opinion, it's just stupid. I could think of better ways to spend (or save) the money. Same goes for lowering a vehicle or putting on a muffler that's louder than a f-14 in afterburn.

you missed the point of what I was saying...
I Agree there is a place for trucks like yours... you go off-road and its obvious and suited for this.
If you were to hit a rock off-road or a pothole your rim would not shatter like a pretzel under a fat woman.
You have tire.

I was stating that the practicality of those skinny tires with off road tread (I hesitate to call the off-road tires) on top of an over-sized shiny chrome rim is a joke.

I have seen one of these with a shattered rim and the guy way crying (Literally), I Just kept on up the hill in my stock-ass blazer with my show-nothing rims.
