I just picked up an AR that is in great shape but don't know anything about it and I am hoping someone on here does. The lower is marked PWA and is circled made in IL. It has serial number 43xxx so supposedly it is post ban however post ban lowers are also supposed to be dated on the opposite side and mine is not. Also It has a nice 24 inch stainless bull barrel that isn't marked, how can I tell what the upper is? If anyone knows anything please pm or add on to the thread.

Thanks

I have a PWA, too. PWA = PacWest Arms

Pre/Postban doesn't particularly matter in Colorado - I've seen plenty of posts at arfcom about serial ranges, though.

PWA's equipment was bought by LMT - their early receivers really show it, too.

I just like how plain and professional the markings on my lower are.

Does anyone have an idea of value for an ar like this? It would be much appreciated.

There is usually a marking, on the right side just in front of the charging handle, with this marking you can google "AR 15 markings" and at least find out who did the forging or casting of the upper. Most are sold to other companies for finishing for their ARs.

Dated? the ones i have / had were never dated. A serial number look up will give you date of mfg. Unless it is an older SGW / Oly due to a fire they had years ago.

I would say around $150. But me being the nice guy I am I would do a solid $200 to help ya out and get it off your hands... [Tooth]
